Just got the taco aligned(factory stock). He took his time and centered the green. I asked if he could 0 out everything and give me all the caster he could. To my surprise he said there was no adjustment for the caster. Is this true.

0 is factory spec, asking for +1° or +3° would be asking to max out your caster, that is moving your wheel forward away from the base of your firewall. Most shops wont do this for you. Sounds like you may not have asked the right question.

In my experience you need to go to a shop that isn't a chain to request custom alignments, otherwise they just want to put it up on the rack and let the computer dial it into stock settings.

Yes you can get your caster adjusted, though with stock arms you're more limited to what they can do while still keeping the other numbers good.

I'll give you an Amen on a shop that does precision/custom alignments. Dude at the front desk told me no problems on getting my numbers. The Taco was already on the rack when I talked to the tech, hell of a nice guy but when he told me there was no caster adjustment I knew what time it was. When I saw how far the toe was out I let him do his thing. Got to say at least he took his time and dead centered the factory specs. It ended up with .6 camber, 2.2 caster, .06 toe per side. The same on both sides. Hell, even with the toe showing out of spec with 38K on the factory tires there was no cupping/wear. Bottom line I'm GTG and thanks for the reply.

On the Tacoma with OEM uppers & lowers, one (caster or camber) has to take priority over the other since you use the same adjustment for both. Hope the blow diagram explains is a bit better, but very simply adjust one of the bolts will change caster, adjust both give you camber, so it’s always a fight as setting caster will throw off camber, and visa versa.

Caster is on the lower control arms, the control arms have 2 eccentrics each. Both adjust camber and caster, but the rearward is primarily caster.

They can seize even on 16's and that may be what he is referring too, or he was lazy and only did toe in.

That further clears it up for me. Mistakenly so I thought the caster adjustment had more independents to the camber adjustment. In retrospect I believe the tech was trying to lay that out for me. He was anything but lazy. Dude dialed in and matched the numbers.
