That's a google image. Don't spread bullshit like this.

Our fleet 3.5 tacomas get the oil changed at 10kish(many go over) with cheap synthetic. A few trucks are over 100k with zero engine issues.

PS: Redline is a waste of money.

Redline is very good stuff, but overkill for these engines.

Heck, try a few gallons of trufuel, you'll get way more than that, plus an empty wallet. Trufuel is awesome, it gives my yard power equipment wings.

I've been using Valvoline Premium oil on my 2003 4runner V6 and it worked great. I got new 23 tacoma and also thinking which oil I will go with soon or later.

Saw a Mobil1 and Supertech from Walmart comparison video. Performed just as well if not a bit better than Mobil1. Use it in my Wrangler since new. 3k to 5k mile changes in all my vehicles. If I'm wasting money dumping still good oil I don't care. Admittedly the oil in my Wrangler comes out looking new after 5k. Tacoma and motorhome on the same schedule.

I saw that on cars that were religiously changed at 3k miles. You’re talking about engines and oils from the 80s.

What I find amazing is these trucks are 40 K and up give or take. Let’s just say you do your oil at 5 K in stead of 10. The motor will stay cleaner no matter what anyone says, period . Now is it something that you can push off ( maybe ? ) a little extra time ( ok yes ) a little extra money ( ok yes ) what’s the issue ? You buy a truck for 40 K …. Change the oil more then what some people say is more than necessary and ? Did you hurt the truck ? No will you probably have a spotless engine inside ? Yup
So what’s the problem . If you feel that way why not buy an old junker for really cheap run it into the ground and when it dies buy another junker . Anything I own I take good care of . I do more stuff then what ( They Say ) but any of my motors if you were to look inside it’s spotless. A little more money upfront goes along way.

Take a peek through the oil filler neck with an inspection snake camera.

Indeed. You'd expect VVTi valve malfunctions (which would throw the CEL) well before sludging get this bad in the picture.

That looks like 50k of miles and someone didn’t change the original oil.
