    Good day everyone,
The PO of my ‘06 replaced the original exhaust system with a non-stainless cat back, which has now fallen apart (the truck was originally in upstate NY and is now in Cali). I’m looking for a system that, while perhaps freeing up some flow, won’t be too loud.
Ideally, it would be pretty quiet under most conditions and perhaps barks a bit under heavy driving/wot conditions, ie: passing someone
    Any suggestions?

Yeah, just put on a stock exhaust from someone who upgraded their exhaust. The TRD is noisy to some people and you may not like it.

I had a MBRP well made product high quality etc... etc... never the less a bit too loud for the wife ended up with a TRD exhaust and everyone is happy as it does have a nice sound in the higher RPM's.

Can't make a 6 cylinder sound like a nice growl of a V8 no matter what kinda cold air intake, throttle body spacer or cat-back exhaust you use.

Since it's an older Tacoma '06 just go to a reputable muffler shop and get a decent stock stainless steel system and be done with it.

Just my opinion take if for what it is worth.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
TRD or stock. These arent lumpy v8's , exotic v6's or even Nissan 3.5's.

    But more importantly.

If the exhaust has rotted off, have you closely inspected the frame?

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Myhr frame was replaced under warranty in 2016, along with the front brake calipers, ac compressor and a few other things I don’t recall at this moment, which is why I still bought the truck in 2018, and it’s been in Colorado and Cali ever since.
So far, I’ve just replaced the front wheel bearings and serpentine belt pulleys and now exhaust.

For the money and longevity, stock. My original lasted 12 years. I've never had an aftermarket last that long.

Replaced it with OEM and I won't be worrying about it for a few more years.

To me, this is a buy once, cry once, solution. And it wasn't overly expensive imo.
