I’m prepping for a cat back install and trying to figure out the gasket that’s needed for the flange. Saw two different part numbers? My flange is pretty rough so I got new bolts, correct size, but not sure how it’s gonna come apart. Looked at split flange options also. Anyone else had to deal with this?

I just installed a MBRP stainless steel cat back system today on my 2009 Tacoma in my driveway. The flange took some time reassembling. I just purchased this truck as sort of a hobby even though I have been driving it everyday as I do jobs. Back to the flange. The previous owner must have had some work done on the exhaust, one side of the flange did not haver a compression spring and only a small bolt, some washers and a nut. All the wrong hardware. The other side had the right hardware. Here is what I did to reinstall. I bought new compression springs and bolts from Toyota, I also had bought some stainless steel nuts, 10M x 1.25 pitch. This is the thread size for the Toyota bolts. On the cat side of the flange, both nuts were still on but one side was stripped/corroded where it would not take a wrench down with a bolt. This is where the stainless steel nut helped. I installed the gasket, and then used vise grips to compress one side of the flange and screwed in one bolt with the spring. I only turned it a few times to hold it on. I then moved the vise grips to the other side of the flange and compressed the flange assembly and put the bolt and spring on. The bolt threaded on to a point and started to slip but enough of the new bolt threads went through where I could start a new stainless steel nut. Then I cranked down both sides. The flange tightened up as it should right to the bevels on each bolt that stops the bolts from going all the way through the cat side of the flange. This bevel allows the muffler side of the flange to move around slightly as designed. I moved the pipe around slightly and it moved like it should. That gasket is super slippery and aids in allowing half the flange to move as needed when the system flexes. I installed the MBRP bolt on system, I checked for leaks at the flange and no air was escaping. I will check the flange and all the clamps in a few days to make sure they are all holding as designed.
