I'm sure most places would do it but for the labor they might charge to do it, it's crazy expensive for the simple job that it is. Although I've never done it myself, I believe it's just a matter of putting clamps on either end of the cat and weaving the cables in the holes provided.

You can't do wrong or do any damage to at least try it yourself. Plus you'd feel good knowing that you did!

Here's a couple of vids that shows a bit about the cat clamp.

Yes, any shop can install it. In all honesty tho it's not that hard. :)

Cool thanks. The first thing I'm doing once I get my truck is buying a Cat Clamp. My town has a lot of riff raff that look like they would try to steal my cat convertor. I just hope my cat never fails while the clamp is installed lol.

What do you do with the extra cable on the end?

    Sorry for the late reply.

I just zip tied the slack along the frame with the heavy duty zip ties that came with the kit. :)

But how will you get the clamps off if you cut between the cables? The cables attach to the clamps, the clamps attach to the cat. The cables form a tight weave and you should not be able to get it out unless you hack the cat into several pieces.

Have you seen the videos? It's pretty solid. I'm not saying it's 100%, but it's definitely not worth the hassle when there's plenty of sheep not being guarded.

Getting ready to put one of these on my 2008 after a $2k trip to the dealer because of some lowlife. I think I'll try to cut the extra cable with an angle grinder.

Any thoughts on using the base model cat clamp ($150) versus the deluxe ($300). Recently had my cat stolen and paid $1200 for repair. Thanks!

I looked into one of these when I recently bought my truck....

We're dealing with tweakers here. They're up for 13 days, planning. Planning on funding their next two week bender.

    FWIW. Tweakers now carry this:

    This

    And that:

    That

That's at least what the tweaker had on him, with cat in hand, when me and my neighbor caught him (after the fact) stealing from another neighbors cat-clamped lifted Chevy.

Full skids are the best deterrent.

If they want it bad enough they can get it so a skid plate will also just slow them down same as these clamps. Not saying these are bulletproof cause they aren't. Just to slow them down or make them look elsewhere when they see a clamp on it.

Actually, if you welded stainless skid plates they would never be able to cut through it.

How will CA people pass visual inspection if you welded the ss skid plate?

I thought stainless steel is weaker than steel? Would'nt it be easier to cut through? I vibration sensitive alarm would be my investment before this Cat Clamp contraption.
