Sambar stag antler shifter, goat roper seat covers, janky campershell I got for free, line-x'd bed, bilstiens, tow package, cracked windshield....c'mon I bounce around in the desert all day, no room for beauty contests...even though I like my truck any way she comes.
So I finally got it in to a mechanic and they basically told me the same thing as auto zone....dangit!! I had them replace the feul filter while they were at it and that looked like it was either not fun or the guy doing it had never done it before. They removed the driver's side tire to get at it. Anyhow, so it is still running rich somewhere and I will have an appt. made to have the cats removed and inspected. If they are fine then I move on to looking at O2 sensors, bummer to not have the resources out here in the desert....

Oh yeah...I also got a quote on replacing the shocks all around and it came to 600$, the shocks/struts where between 145$ for fronts? and 95$ for rears? Does this seem reasonable or should I wait until I ge tot a bigger city (reno NV) or order my own shocks and have the shop install them...I could buy a rachet set and do it myself I am sure....what should I pay for a comparable to better set of shocks and what should I buy brand wise, any suggestions?

seems a little steep for your shocks and struts, my bilstiens $95 each for the struts and 75 each for the rear, ordered them out of oregon. If you wait till you get to Reno, Folbecks or Summit should be able to get you a good price on shocks/struts. How far are you from Fernley NV.? I could give you a hand, only thing I don't have is a spring compressor, broke mine putting in my new coils.

I will drive through Fernley as my next field site is between elko and eureka. I will have to be in Reno for a bit to sign papers etc. for employment. I gigure Reno would be the best place to get them put in, I could have them installed here for 150 bucks, do you think somewhere in Reno would do it for cheaper? A shop you trust besides the dealership. I would take you up on the offer but I will only be passing through your area on the way to the site...I am not going to be using my truck like I have been for the past four months, so I am thinking shocks are not super urgent on the list, but it would be nice to get them done sooner than later, I need to see how much the emissions system fiasco comes to first...damn I took my dad and his tools for granted...I helped him mechanic but never realized the worth of having one of every tool and several in each size of most.

Not to sound like a cliche but you don't know what you have until it's gone. From a guy who no longer has his dad, be certain to tell him thanks.

:eek:Thats funny because that was the quote below my senior yearbook photo, kinda weird for a teenager to say when they still have the rest of their life to look forward to but yeah, I always give him a hug and say "thanks poppy".

So both of the cats on my pickup are open, not blocked but the mech. thought the front one was not working right. For right now I am going to wait and see where life takes me in the next couple of months....if I have to go back to Cali I will most certainly wait to get parts there, can't hardly find a cali compatible converter or O2 sensors....damn that state's regulations. I am just glad that it is not effecting the engine, Nevada ho next week!!!!!

    getting there....
i doubt you will have anything to worry about regarding catalytic converter messing up the engine, basically a high flow cat. it the cat was clogged up, then yeah, that definitely leads to problems.

    *bump*

My engine light has been intermitten. I had the codes looked at and the guy said if it's the 02 sensor it could run up to $400 and if it's the cat converter it could be up to $1000. WTF. How much have you all gotten quoted on for these repairs? I guess I may end up doing it (once I find out the culprit) myself.
