On my 04 dbl cab I have 2 cat converters in line, the fwd one is rattling like a gypsy and needs to be replaced, but not throwing a code yet. Should I remove 2 cats and replace them with one aftermarket (magnaflow) cat? or should I just remove the fwd one and replace that one with aftermarket and keep the oem aft cat? I don't have any emissions to pass but I also don't want to straight pipe it. Thanks.

Gut the bad cat, install a URD Maf calibrator and call it good.

as i said I am not interested in straight piping it, now does anyone have an actual answer if I can replace just the rattling cat or replace both with just one aftermarket cat. Thanks

Replace both with an aftermarket one. I had to do this as I was having problems with my CAT because I had previously cut my stock one in high school(young and dumb) out and put a cheap aftermarket cherry bomb on there. Later to found out the CEL issue was non related at all with my CAT from that day forward I always checked the codes.. lol Anyway yes just buy an aftermarket one from rockauto you even get a 10% discount since your a TW member and call it good! :D Hope this helps!

Best pic I could get of mine
