My cat filters seem to get rather dirty and clog often. To the point to where I had to cut one filters out (aft filter) just to drive it because the flow was so restricted; it was causing back pressure and destroying my EGR system, and severe power loss.

I am wondering why my filter clogged so easily. It wasn't old (10k miles). I am now of course throwing a P1135 code, as well as a P0125.

    My questions:
    1. Why does my filter clog so easily?
    2. Is there any way to bypass/cheat code/sim-sensor for the P1135 code? (Aft Filter is removed)
    3. How to I resolve the P0125 code?

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of cats getting clogged after only 10k. But it sounds like you're running aftermarket cats already? I know cats can get damaged if you have unresolved upstream issues, misfires etc, that might dump unburnt fuel into the exhaust system. How is the overall health of your motor? If you live in a state that does visual inspections whatever you use to bypass the code would probably cause an issue. During my last smog, the shop found a resister on an O2 sensor. The customer tried to play dumb and swore he didn't know about it. :notsure:

    Thanks for the reply,

Long story here but Ill fill you in a bit more: I moved to Georgia from California. Dude I bought the truck from in Ca had made some modifactions to the exhaust, and passed the emissions himself in his own tire and emissions shop. I had a check engine light come on a few years ago. Took the truck to a mechanic where theyd only help me out if I returned it to stock (2 cats). I paid them, they did a shitty welding job and the brackets broke. Cat filter turned sideways and fucked up my EGR system (as stated in the OP). Yes they are likely after market cats. My gas mileage is HORRIBLE. Def running rich. But here's the thing, I work offshore, so I am gone a lot. I MAYBE put 3k on the truck a year. Shes on 35s now so bad mileage is expected, but I getting like 9 MPG. I dont drive the truck that much but am needing it more and more with children now present, and i need the truck for doing "stuff".

    To sum it up:
    1. Likely after market cats
    2. O2 sensors are new
    3. Aft cat is hollowed out
    4. Just cleaned my MAF sensor
    5. Friend told me to change out my PCV valve to improve MPG
    6. Master Toyota mechanic friend told me to change my thermostat, may be causing the P0125 code and thus destroying MPG and filters.
    7. No visual inspection
    8. Mechanic friend told me to maybe try moving the aft sensor way further back.

Hows the mileage on the odometer?
Have you considered replacing your aftermarket catalytic converters back to original?

Maybe a thorough tune up and intake and valve checked out and built up carbon cleaned out? That would be a good place to start.

    210k miles, give it take.
I have considered it. I just don’t want to dump $1200 into the exhaust with the engine still running the way it is. I’ll pretty much just destroy the cats the moment I install them.

sounds like I’m in for a full rebuild.
