Sooo. As I said I would do. When we broke camp in Ely NV I moved everything out of the bed into the trailer. Still over weight so I either have to lose the dogs or the wife or a combination thereof!

Also, it occurred to me that I had forgotten the side steps, tonneau cover, TRD skid plate, and especially the blue ox anti sway hitch which alone is 100lbs. So I’d say that’s 200-250lbs added to the 470-ish tongue weight plus an estimated 475 for two older “girthy” adults and a 105lb German Shepherd and a sheltie.

    The goes the payload!

Loaded like that I'd be surprised if you ever managed to get outta 4th gear on the flats & 2nd or 3rd on a hill

Not to mention the trans loving every minute of it
    PLUS 9.7 mpg.....

Time for a legit 1/2 ton puller

I’ve seen people tow significantly larger than this with their Tacoma’s. Not saying it’s right. Not supposed to tow in higher than 4th anyways. I have a 3500 Cummins in the plans for next year to include my BMW motorcycle in the bed and the trailer, also, I’m 60, they can bury me in it (keeping the taco).

You might manage that yourself someday when you get brake checked on the freeway

1/2 ton isn’t going to do much better. It’s not the trailer weight, it’s the giant wind catcher. My old V10 2500 used to get 14-15 all day, stick a trailer on it of similar size, back to 8 mpg.

its good that U made the effort

never seen a loaded dual axle that didnt put a Taco over the limit

many take what they need + the kitchen sink................not exactly what I call camping

still a reasonable amount over.....................a balanced load ( most tend to be nose heavy )

    judcicious / reasonable pace

make sure the spares for taco & trailer arent buried

Don’t really bring much. We dry camp so that means full water tanks and some extra. Heaviest thing are the two 2200w generators 98lbs and some extra water. That’s about it.

Im 1 of the few that actually considers braking distances

many want to tow at their usual speeds.......................many have mentioned they do

tho its a factor for GVW ratings

its NOT the factor that can be quantified....................way toooooo many variables

weight in the taco......a.ctual weight for both vehicles

soooooooo many use the dealer/sales /showroom for their considerations

on paddock at the race track guys talkin schmack throwing shade braggin about

the ‘ Dry Weight “ of their racer

    Iv NEVER seen a racer

    NO gas

    NO oil

    NO fluids

    make a scintilating Hot Lap
