Had a cat under my hood yesterday that lost some fur/hair when I started my truck. Engine and compartment were covered in fur/hair. I shut the engine off and raised the hood and he escaped under the storage shed here at the apartment building I live in. He took some serious blows from the engine starting because he was meowing loudly in a unusual tone from under the storage building. Saw it and another feral cat slink off into the bean field yesterday evening so I know he survived the encounter with my truck.

I had a couple good suggestions how to deal with this from fellow members. The horn button on the key fob as I'm going out to get in my truck sounds like it will work just fine.

I also waited for the city pound to call me back yesterday but they never called back. I asked to borrow one of there traps and catch the cat or cats then bring them to the pound. I guess if the city is not concerned with the feral cat population multiplying why should I be. I'm not going to harm those cats with any poisons as I stated in posts that I erased. Thought about feeding them every couple of days but the housing authority forbids it.

Thanks for the suggestions and have a great day!

hope not for its sake, although it does have nine lives, maybe spent one of them when you started it up this morning...just like people who leave their cats out, but don't want to start a cat hate thread..lol

Happened to my son, luckily he heard the meowing before he got out of the driveway. Popped the hood and a tiny little kitten was right on top of his motor. Kept it in my shop till I could find a home for it

My cat has a bad habit of going under the hood of my truck and I do everything I can to keep her out.

Where I live you're allowed to live trap them and animal control will come and pick them up. A few days later they'll call to tell me I can pick up my trap.
I've gotten 2 in the past month.

A couple of years ago, a cat got caught in the serpentine belt of my mom's minivan.

    Not a pretty sight..
