I had my cat converter cover either fixed or replaced back in 2012 under the 8/80 warranty. Recently, at 46k on my ‘14, the muffler rotted out. The muffler that was put on at an independent shop is a POS and it whistles, probably a bad baffle. The shop is replacing the muffler again, but just before taking it in the first time, the converter cover started rattling. Now, 2 weeks later, it’s rattling like crazy!

It’s going back in the shop anyway, and I’m sure it could be strapped with a stainless band, but is there another option? Do they make replaceable clamshell converter covers for these trucks? I looked but only saw anti theft shields. Just wondered what you fellas have done on yours?

Good question! I have had a rattle on my aftermarket cat ever since I bought it...for whatever reason, once the cat is warm, the rattle goes away, so i have just been dealing with it ever since I got it.

Have you found the specific spot yours is rattling?

When mine was rattling I just gave it a couple of tacks with a welder. If I remember right it had a couple of broken spot welds that I fixed. It took all of about 5 minutes.

what @bhigbee said. Welding is the only way without utilizing the stainless clamps
