Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Not long after I bought my truck the catalytic converter heat shield rattled loose and is driving me crazy. I looked under it today and it seems there is still a lot of padding and heat insulation between it and the floorboards. Can I just take it off and toss it aside or will it make something melt or catch on fire with it off? Don't see any bolts holding it on or any holes for them so I have no idea what keeps it on there.

it puts out a lot of heat so keep the shield, just find a way to secure it better

often it gets cracks around the mounting bolts and using oversized washers makes it quiet again
