Sweet install video! Thanks for sharing it with the community. The gasket maker is a pretty creative idea. We have some customers who go the extra mile and put bondo on the screw heads. We will say that you cannot just buy these keys anywhere. We contract with a leading security screw manufacturer that has a patent on these screw heads and maintains strict control over their product. This is not something you can buy from your local hardware store or purchase them online. One can still find a way to remove the screws, but we try to make it as hard as possible for thieves.

Again, great job with the install and video!

Does any one know if this will work with the TRD Pro skid plate installed or not?

I don't have the pro plate unfortunately so I can't call it.

Did you check my install video? Might help you see where this one goes.

I'm happy to climb under the truck and take pictures of certain areas of the cat shield if it'd help just let me know.

These guys did a great job on the cat shield that works with a TRD Pro Skid. Complete bolt on with 3 different types of bolt heads. Thanks John and team!

Ordered mine today through Amazon, got one for my wife’s Prius C as well after a friend of mine just had their Prius cat stolen.

I have the TRD Pro skid plate, but already placed an order for the current shield version. Looks like I need to do some trimming on the upper edges to get the shield to fit?

    Good job!

I took a while to see this but glad I'm glad I found/read thru this to see you mention me.

That front section with the 4 screws was a bear for you! I like how you interrupted the video with sarcastic "wait time" comment! lol

I installed the Talon Cat Plate which required a slight modification (3 3/8 inch washers to act as spacers) at the front where I'll be adding a TRD Skid Plate I bought over the weekend. I'll post pics on my Tacoma Intro thread.

Glad you got this done and explained the great customer service you received with missing part and discount code refunded to your order.

    Ed

My Tacoma shield showed up today (FedEx is still carrying the wife’s Prius C shield around) and it took right around 45 minutes to install. It would have only been 30 minutes but that front plate is a bugger to get the screws started on! I must comment that these guys make a quality product, fit and finish is top notch and the packaging was made to survive FedEx’s gorillas. Happy customer!
Edit: got the wife’s shield put on her Prius C, much tougher install that my taco. Took about an hour and a half.

Well. My 2021 trd pro sounded great this morning without CATs..... do you have one that works with the current skid plate for 2021?

I bought through Black Friday sale and picked up locally last week. I installed it on Saturday. The shield fits like a glove. Only issue I encountered was when double checking tightness on the short screws, I had a slight slip, and I ended up stripping the security screw head on one side. This prevents the security bit from sitting all the way down on that particular screw. Made sure to be extra careful moving forward and did everything with hand tools. Since this is just a deterrent, I would probably be happy if the screw heads were just allen and stronger. Extra screws are not provided, so need to be careful.

Well now I wish this happened before black Friday lol... or not at all. People are scum to the bone. Yeah it sucks to have to pay the deductible and get this fixed but honestly it's more so all the time I have to waste in this process.

How thick is the shield? I have tried contacting their customer service with this question but no response.
