Did it not just bolt right on? The CCM skid uses different mounting holes that shouldn't interfere with the TRD pro skid. Pic from website:

Well, my cat was swiped a few weeks ago. 2.7 4wd Spent night at the Domain Westin in North Austin. Across the street from Niemann Marcus and Macy’s no less. Truck parked under the light and right on the main drag.

I thought I was safe since I only had “one” vs the v6. Turns out, three cuts with a battery powered sawzall drops it right out. And since our rigs are already lifted, no need for a jack.

Replaced with aftermarket from rockauto ($475). Downstream O2 sensor ($75) and hanger biscuit ($2) My buttdyno tells me that I actually now have a little better performance since I went with epa vs carb. (I’ll let you guys research the difference) List at dealer for OEM is $1500 and they are out at the main warehouse. Looks like a few dealers stock them and you can buy them online for $1,150. Olathe, etc

    So now I’m thinking about some protection…. I know, I know…

    Has anyone used this product:

    https://catshield.com/products/copy-of-millercat-2016-2022-toyota-tacoma-2-7l-4x4-cat-shield™

    Thoughts? Concerns?

and based on the marketing, looks like fleets of these SRs are getting hit.

edit: just found the new thread on page one. No need to respond about millercat

What a world we live in. $104 to fill up my truck yesterday and I even went to Costco to "save" money. Now we have to look into spending more to keep people from cutting off components off the vehicle. Next we'll have people shaving rubber off the tires to recycle that or some shit.

Just last night, or should I say early this morning around 2:30am, three young guys, dressed all in black, with Covid face masks and black hoodies, (I saw them all on our security videos) broke open the lock to the man-door to the underground parking garage in our apartment complex, and I watched with horror as they calmly looked at, but walked right past my 2022 Trail edition rig and attacked four Pontiac Sunfire type cars and stole the cats from all four of them. This is British Columbia, Canada mind you, but we have a prolific and thriving catalytic converter theft network and an equally eager set of local customers who'll buy them off of these thieves.

I suspect these are unemployed young people, gen whatever-the-hell folks, obviously living in whoever's basement they dwell in rent-free during the daylight hours, walked past my truck and were thrilled to find the garage deserted, and easy for the task at hand by the way they were dancing as they went to each car.

Fantasies of being hidden behind a pillar in the garage with my scope mounted rifle at the ready as these three stellar citizens blundered in to the garage kept permeating my mind all morning long. But, I put those thoughts away and busied myself at looking to buy a cat protection shield for my truck. Chloe Kuo has a video on YT about installing one. Think I'll take a look at it too.

What a world we live in you ask?.......Someone, somewhere along the way, at some point in the lives of some young people, severely neglected the task of raising a kid worthy of being proud of. The result is, you get a cat thief, to say nothing of whatever else he (I suspect most cat thieves are male), can get his hands on.

Just read on local nextdoor site guy got his cat shield cut through. Damn!

-We had a "Cat Shield" already installed, and they cut on either side of it. Meanwhile, they also succeeded in ripping out the oxygen sensor and cutting through the heat shield. This took all of 5 minutes (a long time considering)... probably due to the shield being in place. They had to jack up the car to get the converter cut out. That slowed them down a little bit.

First I’ve heard of this happening, but the shield is a deterrent to slow thieves down, so it did it’s job.

Had mine stolen recently and have been going down the rabbit hole of catalytic converter thefts- and they’re happening everywhere. My wife’s brother told me last year they stole his off his box truck for work and I didn’t think I had much to worry about for some reason or another. Low and behold, I’m now in the market for a shield after just spending $1000 on an insurance deductible for the new cat and install/O2 sensors etc. On top of it, everyone I’ve been talking to has a story of either themselves or a friend getting cats cut off or something of the likes

In SF they hit the police station and took 4 or 5. That's funny. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-09-15/catalytic-converters-stolen-san-francisco-police

Someone needs to make an alarm that's frame mounted and motion sensing. Once set, if it senses motion, it sends a cloud of bear spray under the vehicle along with a flash bang, LOL.

Fuck bear spray - skunk glands. Flash-bang not necessary. He won't be able to get out from under the vehicle fast enough, and (based on experiences with my own idiot dogs) he'll be reminded of his lesson for a fucking month.

Just install this cat shield from ADD in Texas. Fits well and doesn’t rattle but wondering what anyone thinks about the exposed parts, and or if there’s something else I can add to it for protection. Installed this after my cat got cut out a few weeks ago and had to get new one through insurance yadayadayada

That doesn't look great. Are those your original cats? If not, were new cats installed in a different location than stock?

My truck is 3rd gen 4x4 - 4 cylinder, so slim pickings for cat shields actually and this place said there’s fit and it did, but I think the same thing, maybe I could get the rest covered. New to cat shields etc.
The thieves who cut it out cut by that piece that’s exposed and then another cut where the rest is covered, so I don’t think they could get the second cut but still would rather not have that open
