    Hi all,

Someone recently tried to cut off my wife’s cat (got about 90% through the pipe). I figured we should probably look into catalytic converter shields, since the threat of having the cat stolen seems pretty real now.

What are the best options for a 1st gen 4x4/TRD? Mine is the California spec.

    Cat clamp?
Get a muffler shop to make something custom?
    Other options?

    Thanks

I’ve seen steel cable used to go around the cat like 15 single strands might be worth a shit I’d just have someone fab up a plate

Just park over large piles of dog poo. Throw some road apples under there for good measure.

I was thinking about stenciling a good chunk of my VIN with high viz/high temp paint on the cat.

I know for a fact the steel cable catclamp saved my Taco's catalytic converter against thieves. 2 other Tacos were hit on the same street during the same week while mine was spared. They did get the converter off my Accord. My Taco was the only vehicle with any protection. My area has been hit hard. Street apartment type setup. We don't have home garages.

They complete the entire theft under 2.5 mins. I got one theft on camera.
