I bought a Catalytic Shield for the sole purpose of theft prevention. But after installing it, I'm not sure it was worth it. I don't need to say the company that made the shield it because it's good quality but its not necessary considering the location of the Cat. It's stuffed so far up in the engine bay that I don't think a thief would go through all the trouble of "trying" to get to it. I was thinking that it was in the middle area of the exhaust and exposed for easy access to a thief. Surly not the case!!!!!

If anyone out there is considering getting a shield for the cat, first take a peak underneath and take a look at the location of the cat. I don't think it's necessary.

Now on the other hand, if you want to protect your transmission along with the cat, then a shield is a good idea.

Yeah they really resolved that problem with this gen. But I like your thinking to turn it into transmission shield. Maybe post a picture of it installed from the companies website if you dont want to mention their name so others can see if it worth it to them to protect the tranny.

Your cat shield if it’s the same as the 2nd Gen.

Also doubles as a very light duty skid plate protecting your transmission pan.

Does double duty so. Why not.
It’s light weight, and protects your cats from thieves, and your transmission pan from rocks and stuff.

I'm not worrying about it being a transmission pan protector. That's what it should be advertised as. Not a cat shield.

I'm just trying to get the word out that we really don't need a Cat shield because it's stuffed so close to the motor.

I'm not returning the shield as it's a good trans pan protector.

Yeah lot of the auto manufacturers are taking into consideration of the cat converter theft s d coming up with ideas on how to make it more difficult for them to make it a hassle.
