I just purchased a 2019 Tacoma SR, 4x4, access cab.

I have seen many posters advising that I should secure my truck's cat.

My question is does my Tacoma have one converter or several?

My nephew's Tundra has four I believe and he installed a shield to deter theft.

Any suggestions as to reasonably priced cat shields on Amazon or eBay. How about the cat shield available on the Toyota website?

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Another option is to get a quote from a muffler shop. They have settling torches and scrap metal lying around, at least the one in my small town.

RCI sells a transmission skid that bolts two catalytic converter guard wings on, assuming you want a transmission skid plate. Regardless, if you still have the flimsy "splash guards" you should at least get a TRD Pro aluminum (1/4 in thick) engine skid plate, if not steel from folk like RCI.

Other makers (MillerCat, CatShield, Talon, to name a few) bolt on catalytic converter guards without the transmission skid required. Anything you can do to make them "move on" because it takes too long to cut into or around the guards helps.

The (2nd and 3rd Gen) Tacoma has two primaries and two secondaries. The primaries are difficult to reach. They're on the tail end of the header pipe, between engine block and firewall.

The secondaries straddle the transmission. They're easy targets.

Whether it helps you sleep better at night in shielding the secondaries, that's entirely up to you.

Ordered the millercat shield for my baby! Peace of mind!

It is not the thickest or stainless steel type but it'll dissuade the low life's hopefully to move on to the next vehicle.

I 2nd RCI. I went aluminum to save weight. It's still thick and I don't plan on rock crawling yet I do go to squirrely places at times.

I went with Caliraised so I can use whatever skid plate I wanted down the line and it doesn't get in the way of any maintenance.

I also went with cali raised. Was a pretty easy install. At the end of the day, if they want it, they will get it. When they see a shield, most likely they will move on to another vehicle without one. I don’t regret it.

I looked for a catylitic convertor protector for my 4 cylinder 2.7 liter model, but all the ones I found only fit the V6 model.

Our cat protection is also a fully functional skid plate ready to bounce off some Rocks!

We have added a bunch of little details and the reinforcing ribs add on that make our full skid package stronger than other plates out there.

You can buy stickers and shirts with the words in post #3.

BTW, a friend of mine is a retired high school English teacher. She wrote a referral on some students one time. In the referral description, she wrote it was the first time she heard the F-word used as a noun, verb, adjective and adverb in the same run-on sentence.

I think you get the idea on how the student was using the word multiple times in the sentence.
