    Oh Yeah!!!
Why spend about a grand on replacing them, when you can purchase a set of Headers and Y-pipe for the same price.

If emissions test is an issue, go with aftermarket High Flow Cats. They will not effect you engine in anyway.

When dealing with exhaust, the worst that could happen is loosing to much back pressure, which inturn leads to lost of low end HP & Torque. The rear Cats will not be an issue. Plus your truck will sound more aggressive.

    Just my opinion...

it really depends on how stringent the emissions are. Do they hook up something to your exhaust? Your best bet is to find someone that has the same setup and find out if they passed. I think there is a big arizona tacoma group.

oh snap i just read further and found this

Quote "[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]The URD Competition Y Pipe was designed for off road competition and racing events. For that reason it does eliminate the rear catalytic converters for maximum performance. The URD Competition Y Pipe is not for on road use and is absolutely not emissions legal anywhere on public roads and it never will be."

What should I replace it with that will allow me to pass emissions and not lose any performance?

Just installed mine about a week ago.

Sounds awesome, will last longer than stock piping, basically life of truck.

Yes you will pass emissions, if your state only checks through OBDII port. Your front CAT's are doing all the work. The rear are more like resonators cleaning up more exhaust pollutants before they hit our air space...

that's legal speak. In Louisiana, they do emissions tests, but they are very lenient. How is arizona?

    Not going to brag.
It took me three minutes to cut off my cat in the dealership's parking lot, I timed myself. Although I did have a dull blade and I had to try cutting the front off again as I was cutting into the 02 sensor and it was taking too long. That's right, my previous Tacoma was bought back and I scavanged anything of value off it the day I signed it away.

If it was a Walmart parking lot, I was under the impression those all had security cameras covering all angles. Since you work inside, you should be asking to see those videos. It would be great to ID the perps.

I'm not good at this kind of stuff yet (I'm still learning) does anyone know a way of replacing the catalytic converter while improving performance yet still emission friendly. The Y-pipe looks like a really good idea but I'm afraid i wont pass emissions in the future. Anyone in Arizona have the URD Y-pipe installed and have passed emissions?

that sucks man!! better try to get it covered by the insurance, coz i bet the labor is also expensive, maybe it would be lower to pay deductible than parts+labor....also arent the rest of the tubes damaged by the saw??

They stole two catalytic converters here at my work yesteday. Broad day light, and we have a security guard patrolling the area (not useful at all if you ask me).

    This is from Wikipedia:

I would definitely go with the Toyota "cats" for reliability. Unfortunately you won't be able to get a used one from a junk yard. They are usually sawed off there too and melted down to be recycled. This gives the yard a good instant income to offset the purchase of a wrecked/totalled vehicle.

    question for everyone:

How would you suggest protecting your 'cats' from being stolen?!?!

Its only Toyotas they are going after right now from what I heard on TTORA. Because we have the Metal of the Gods in our trucks (thats why they last so long).

Try the URD y-pipe or do extensive research on HM(heavy metal) aftermarket cats otherwise regular universal cats like magnafloows will leave your engine light on,,,, this happend to me
