I think I'd just wire some fish hooks to the cat. They might get the cat, but is gonna be hard as hell to see those hooks in the dark and it's gonna hurt.

We get it. You want to go fishing.
But, I am stealing your cats in broad daylight when you are parked at the bait shop.

I could dangle those hooks from the body and they would be almost impossible to see even in daylight.

Fish hooks is just plain evil. This would be the ultimate theft preventative and should be against the Geneva convention rules of conflict.

Anyone that has ever had a hook stuck in their hide knows how bad this situation would be.

I'm actually giggling to myself imagining someone stuck under my truck.

You get more than 1 hook in you, you are not going anywhere without help.

I think some of y'all could write the script for the next home alone movie series.

Except it would be more of a cross between Deathwish and…whatever movie represents people whining about pollution controls and calling all criminals meth heads.

    Double barb treble hooks?

EDIT: Kind of a catalytic converter version of the movie SAW.

You can keep the catalytic converter in exchange for your hand…

Booby traps that cause injury I'm sure would be frowned upon from a legal view.

Although....a hearty blast of pepper spray and a Lime green dye bag would deter and identify the perp without causing injury.

While I was in China there was an outbreak of dogs being killed with treble hooks. The morons would bury the treble hooks into a piece of meat, then leave it out. Dog would come along doing the dog thing, eat the meat/hook, then the dog's guts would get perforated and tore up. Many times the Vet was not able to save the dog. Horrible death.

This intensified the training of my dog on the "Pass" and "Drop" commands.

Agree, not that I would do that. Hanging treble hooks would be terrible. Potential to snag passing animals, highway trash, etc. It’s a bad plan, but the movie aspect appealed. I plan to simply install or create some sort of shield.

I installed my Cat Security shield this morning on my 2019 TRD Offroad, with a few changes:

    - Since I'm on Ohio, and I didn't want the supplied zinc chromate plated steel Rivnuts to rust things permanently in place with road salt, I bought some stainless Rivnuts from Amazon and used them instead.
    - I used some anti-seize on the threaded security bolts (the supplied lock washers should hold them in place).
    - After drilling the 7/16" holes in the frame, before installing the stainless Rivnuts, I sprayed the holes with some Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing spray paint. This stuff is loaded with zinc, which should slow corrosion.
    - I did NOT use the long bolt & rectangular "washer" at the front center of the shield, since that bolt/nut would be a pain to remove for routine maintenance. I think the 2 other front bolts (threaded into Rivnuts) should
    hold it nicely. We'll see.

As an aside....the stainless Rivnuts were a royal bxtch to crimp in place with the 14" Wetools Rivnut tool I had. If the truck was up on a lift, maybe better leverage would have been possible (or maybe I'm just a wuss). I ended up wedging one handle against my rib cage, and using both hands to pull the other handle. Fun times!

The guy who fabbed my sliders is making a skid plate with cat cover. He showed me the CAD design and it would work great. I'll post the info when he gets them made. We are losing several a night in San Diego area.
