Awesome that's what I call a security bolt. Never seen those, reminds me of security lug nuts.

Those are actually pretty common security heads. Still will slow down the average crackhead. After seeing what @H6G posted, I'd think about those.

So, my name is Shaun, and I have an addiction to fabbing stuff...

I recently made a set of skid plates for my neighbors 2021 4 runner with two goals.
    1. Have it be a bolt in solution without having to remove the transfer case bases
    2. Have it also protect the cats.

Here are the pictures of the results. I have not tried it on a Tacoma yet, but hope to this weekend. I have looked under a Tacoma in a few random parking lots, and they look very similar. If for some reason my co worker cant come over, is there someone else in Houston that would be willing to come try it out. If it doesn't fit, I can redesign it to fit in a matter of hours....

    5th gen.jpg 5th gen 2.jpg 5th gen 3.jpg

This plate is made from 1/4" Aluminum, which I think is a good combination of weight savings and strength.

Curious to see what you all think.

Yes, it needs some type of security bolt, but there are extra holes for extra bolts.

    Hey Shaun.

Looks aswsome! and would definitely have a market with the Tacoma crowd. Not sure if you're aware of the Texas regional forum on TW. BTW- as one who tinkers with what little material and equipment is on hand, I'm super envious (in a good way) for your ability and means of fabing this up.

Here's the link to the Texas section where you might get some locals to help out with the R&D.

Corpus Christi is only a short drive to Houston! I went to college down there and miss it!

I will make a post in the regional forum too. Thank you!

Short until you get to Rosenberg :), then you're basically in H-town. Or so it seems...
Yeah CC is pretty nice. I live out near the island so it's very mellow in my neighborhood. In town is another story...

Dude spend thirty seconds looking up stolen catalytic converters, you will be shocked, yes there's a huge market it only takes a few seconds and they rarely get caught.

    Now that cracked me up!

Right, why is it that people with garages park their vehicles outside. I park my wife's SUV, my Tacoma and one of my motorcycles in the garage. My neighbors on the other hand... even the one with a brand new Subaru.

It’s because they have too much crap in their garages!

Man, I wish my garage had space for a moto.

Well.....ummm.....even though we have a garage at our spacious 1000 sq ft ranch home here in Ohio-istan, it's a single car garage. In a perfect world, it wouldn't be full of stuff from my dad's estate from 5 years ago. Unfortunately (per the Most Holy Prophet Ice-T), "shit ain't like that."

Like most folks, I have a lot of stuff in my garage. Fortunately I have a knack to organize and utilize every available space to make space for my vehicles. BTW-my other 3 bikes are stored in my shop in the backyard.
