I live in Houston and had my Cat stolen a few weeks ago. Is it possible to pick a kit up locally?

Inspired by all these threads, I made my own. ~45$ in metal and a can of spray paint (and a 6 pack o beer to my buddy who I borrowed the welder from).

(pre paint and final attachment). Using 3 different types of bolts (standard hex, cap and button head) so 3 different tools would be needed to remove.

Looks like it will do the job, had thought about the same thing until I saw the talon garage ones.

I had a CAT shield installed on my 2021 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4. I know it’s overkill, but if a thief sees it, he’s more likely to move into another truck or car that’s easier to steal from.

Have had 10 customers call about stolen cat's this week. 3 of them live within a 1/2 mile radius of each other and happened on the same night.

Ordered mine today. My truck stays garaged except when we use it for our travels. I sure as hell don’t want to come out from our hotel some morning hundreds of miles from home and have to deal with a cat theft. :spending:

I work at a european focused shop. If we worked on Tacoma's I would totally stock your shields, as is I'm trying to decide what route I want to go on my personal truck. Trying to decide if I want to go with full steel skids and weld on some wings or buy one of your shields and just run it with my trd front skid plate.

We have a pretty nice front skid plate. Transfer case is in the works too.

We recently had 12 of our fleet Tacos, FJ’s, and Tundras hit with cat theft while they were in our gated and fenced compound at work. Most had both cut out but the FJs are harder to get on the passenger side so they only cut out the drivers. Roughly $27,000 in damages. We are looking into these to prevent this from happening again. Unsure if it will be worth it as some of our vehicles have 400,000km+ and these plates range from $300-$400.

I have a TRD Sport with the TRD aluminum engine plate. Looks like your plate is a direct drop-in, bolt-on for me?

PS how to finish you plate? Polish it with Mother's Mag polish?

Did you have to drill new holes in the truck frame?

Yes. I did. I thought I bought the no-drill security plate. I had a local shop install it for me, and they had to drill two holes into the frame. I felt like it was un-neccessary because the plate has about 10 other screws/bolts. The two they drilled are just added security.
