    Hey Y'all,

My front cat is leaking and in need or replacement. I have a lead on an original take off in great shape that matches everything but engine family number. My question is would swapping this in cause any problems with performance or CEL? Not too worried about having to pass smog or anything, yah Wyoming! Plus, the price is low enough where I can swap again if I end up somewhere where ensuring a full match is an issue. Worth a shot or bite the bullet and do it right?

    Cheers,
    Jaron

Why not just weld the crack?

Didn’t think that was possible haha! The part I have my eye on is just 100 bucks. Seems like at that price it would be worth swapping if it would play nice.

The other cat is off a 2002 3.4. I'm EFN 3TYXT03.4FFP and they are 3TYXT03.4FFH

Right on! Any insight as to why replacements are family specific and or why theres a nearly $400 difference in those replacements from Magnaflow?

They might be vehicle-specific or CARB compliant

Yeah very confused as both should be CARB compliant based on the emissions tag and have same general build so maybe some minor tuning variation or something

Aftermarket cats are inferior to OEM cats. They will never last as long or work as efficient as OEM. It's all in the build quality and the precious metals used internally. If you can get hands on an OEM takeoff for a decent price, take it!
