Was actually thinking about this, wonder if your trans temp would go up a few degrees. It can't get super hot though, people would feel it in the floor and maybe start fires if it was a serious amount of heat buildup.

This is from the Miller Catshield website: "Whether you choose a stainless steel or aluminum shield, you will not need to worry about overheating. Our products are tested to ensure there are no adverse impact to your converters." Guess it depends on whether you believe them or not, but there are a lot of these out there apparently.

There must be some amount of heat increase, I was thinking 4 or 5 degrees on a scan gauge, not burning up the transmission.

Full disclosure, the bold print is theirs, not mine. :) I get what you are saying. The air flow can't be the same even though the shield is vented.

I would be concerned with that heat melting any nearby wiring, melting the carpet in the cab or reducing the life of the cats themselves.

There would be complaints if it was getting that hot, maybe even lawsuits.

They seem pretty popular, and it wouldnt take long for someone to notice if it was getting hot enough to melt or burn stuff. And exhaust leak under the cab usually is noticeable by touching the floor and feeling the warmth.

Bullets cost money and can be scarce. Instead, just drop a gear and stand on the gas.

I live in South Texas, we just had our 2nd hottest summer of all time. 58 days of 100+temps and there was no overheating issues. There are no nearby wires and my carpet/truck did not melt. (Your cabin is insulated) Remember this is your exhaust system...it is going to get very hot. There is plenty of ventilation on the Cat security cover...its not air tight. There are plenty of gaps front/back/sides.

$300 for piece of mind.....its worth it.

I have a good friend that is an area manager for WaWa (east coast Circle K) he says the internal joke is WaWa stands for "Walk Away With Anything" they will not confront shoplifters and have fired associates that do.

Looks like a pretty easy way for the police to bust the thieves. Arrest anyone that shows up with a bunch of cats that doesn’t own a repair shop.

Very true about every major business has a loss budget. The retail prices have a budget that goes into that cost. The last store I work at each store with different levels of missing goods. Meaning the higher the more loss prevention officers. Plus each stop of a person requires 5 rules to be met. No false arrest here.

Most retailers tell there employees NOT to stop anyone because of safety. One thing there is a shrink budget, two is safety and missing goods can be replace. A human life cannot be replace.

Every thief know this. Our Walmart if any first time thief caught with anything under $25.00 walks free.
The courts time, police offers time and the loss prevention people cost money . It cost each retailer lots of money . Too bad the criminals do not need to pay this cost.

We the innocent pays ALL the cost! Lucky you got a job that pays taxes!

Or just drive it with ear plugs lol!!
As to the bolded section above: that’s just not the world we live it. They ticket those with means to pay, and don’t go after those who they know won’t. Thank god there’s a lot of water separating me from the shithole Seattle has become but over there you can literally watch the meter maids stick tickets on residents cars and skip right over the illegally parked RVs. They’re even told to do this!!!

Putting in a temp straight pipe may cause some codes, effect mileage, computers to adjust? Just be aware if you cannot get a replacement cat.

No sensors behind the secondary cats, which are the ones being protected with these shields
