So Wednesday I was sitting at home around lunchtime I had started getting ready for lunch i put on my shoes and short but not my shirt, belt, gun cell phone in my pocket etc when I hear a knock at the front door. I was not expecting company so i didn't answer it. The person on the porch walked back towards the steps and then to the door again and re-knocked. I got up and walked to the edge of the house and looked out a bay window and saw a Nissan NX2000 parked outside with a fat woman in the drivers seat. Then I see a guy with a haircut like like Goro from Mortal Kombat walking to the car carrying two car batteries that I was charging off my front porch. So I instantly ran towards the front of my house and grabbed my constant companion a M&P40 because I didn't know if this guy was armed or not. I exited the front door and ordered the guy to stop and bring the batteries back to the porch. The M&P was holstered. The guy basically says, "Yes I am!" So he brings them back to my property and starts giving me a spill about how his car needed a jump yet the car was running and how he had knocked for 30 mins(id been up for over 3 hours sitting just on the other side of the room where he was knocking).... and then has the gall to ask if he can borrow my battery charger....I didn't have my cell phone on me so I had to go back inside and get it I came back out to try and catch their tag number but the NX sported a dealer driveout plate. The woman was so nervous she couldnt get the car in gear to back up and once she backed up half way down the block she couldnt hardly get it into first. I guess a 350lb shirtless man with gun will do that to you.... I called the local PD and the responding officer said he knew who the perp was based on my description and that hes always doing stuff like this...hopefully he will think next time before acting like an idiot...but i doubt it

    Cliffnotes:
goro(perp) tries to steal my battery
    shirtless yukon cornelius(me) catches him
goro rides off with his fatty in a nx2000(perps ride)

That he didn't shoot first, and he knows the law in his state demonstrates maturity and reason. Kudos to the OP.

The NRA sure ain't what it used to be. There are better lobby groups like http://gunowners.org/ but they still lack the numbers the NRA has. So thats the "best" we have til more people become aware.
But back on topic, glad you home! The cliff notes were a nice touch. :D

Bravo on your ability to control your emotions through this ordeal. A lot of people woulda come out gun drawn and yelling. Hopefully they pick the perp up and you get to pick him out of a line up. Next time walk over to the car and tell the driver to give you the keys then go call the cops so they cant drive away.

You did the right thing with your battery thief and his driver.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but what exactly was the NRA doing to lobby against gun rights in Georgia?

In my neighborhood, there have been a number of door knockers. One of which made a rather extensive list of homes to burglarize then sent around knocker number two to "verify" the list a few days later.

They then proceeded to try and break into two homes a week or so later. Too bad our neighborhood has a lot of retirees and they're pretty vigilant. Two burglars, two arrests (at gun point). And they found the list. One guy might even have gotten bit (k9 search)--good for the dog ;)
