Caution, Part numbers and the products have changed on 5100's bought from Down South Motorsports. To make a long story short, after tearing apart the front end of my truck with the help of another TW member, we were about to install my new 5100 on the front coil when he says "wow, this base plate is different than on my truck" So we do some quick research on the DSM site and they showed a totally different part number and picture than what I was sent. So not wanting to damage them (so I could return them) we had to put my truck back together with the stock parts. Yeah this sucks! 3 hours down the drain. This is for the front and rear shocks. For some reason the rears also had a different part number. I called DSM and was told that the ones I have are a new "updated" version with a different base plate. Too bad my order, receipt, and the website did not say any of this. DSM sorry you dropped the ball on this one. I was assured by the rep on DSM that what I have is correct and to use them. So now it's back to the garage to start over again.

Got a pic of the new baseplate ?

Wow simmer down spark plug, this was simply a warning to others that the parts have changed. Yes I feel DSM should have said something or changed the web site. I am sure they have a great rep in the Tacoma World forum, and this was not a slam on them, just a warning to other TW members to not be concerned if they order them and get something different, hince the CAUTION at the start of my thred.

It's too bad you feel this way. As I explained to you on the phone, the reason you were billed for, and received a different part# than what is on our site, is becuase we shipped you the Bilstein part#. When RCD runs out of their C477/C478 part#s which are on our site, we have to resort to buying the Bilstein C475/C476#s which cost us more, but we still honor the price to take care of you guys. We did not know that they had made a change in the hardware, and have no reason to try to hide anything. I told you I would call Bilstein and make sure you did not receive the wrong hardware, and that is exactly what we did. For those of you who may receive C475s from us, or any other vendor, the new shocks are now supplied with stamped steel spring plates instead of the aluminum ones that they used to include. No reason was given for the change, other than it was a running production change done by Bilstein.
If you are not happy with the product or our service, we can send you a call tag and issue a full refund of your purchase price. Thank you.

So you're pissed off because you received an updated shock at a lower cost that what it should have been? DSM didn't drop the ball. Hell they lost some coin over it. Next time you take a shower, do us all a favor and wash the sand out of your vagina.

I see absolutely nothing wrong on DSM's part. +1 for them.

DSM is legit (speaking from personal experience) and I would easily recommend them to anyone on this site.

I agree with everyone else...DSM kicks ass. I have nothing but great things to say about them. When I ordered my new 5100s they missed the invoice and didn't get them shipped out when they should of. I called them, explained I needed them for a trip I was leaving for in two days and they red labeled them overnight shipping through UPS and they were here the next morning. Not only did they get them here in time for me to install them for my trip but they also covered the $70 extra shipping charges.

It's nice to see there are still some companies out there who care about their customers and ALWAYS put them first. They do what it takes to keep their customers happy. I would pay more for a product just to get it through them. Peace of mind is worth a lot.

    Great job DSM!!!

My personal experience with DSM has been on par with most everyone's, that being great. However, I find it hard to believe that everyone here knocking the OP would not find themselves just a little annoyed if the part they received was a different part number than what was listed on the site and their receipt, AND looked different than everyone else's 2nd Gen 5100, including DSM's website.

DSM got the OP the correct part, but what DSM did drop the ball on was communication. I think every other person with any sense would look at the part and assume it was incorrect, with a different part number and different hardware than what was advertised.

Instead of saying DSM dropped the ball, all he had to do was RESEARCH. OP then could have made a similar thread talking about the part numbers and said changes.
