Great thread and glad I'm not the only one banging my head squeezing into my Taco! I'm the second owner of an 08 access cab, I'm 6ft with a 32" inseam so long in the torso. I figured out a way to get in mine with a little less head banging.
    1) Remove hat
    2) Right foot on running board
    3) Right cheek on seat
    4) Tuck chin tightly into chest and lean forward
    5) Slowly swing head into cab grazing the door jam as you go (dropping a few F-bombs optional)
    6) Slide other cheek onto seat
    7) Draw left leg into cab
    8) Cuss at the rear view mirror for being right in the damn way (this can be fixed)

As I was writing this, I went out and looked at the forward upper door jam area and I can see head grunge from the previous owner! Not bad once you are in but why put us taller folk through such hell getting into the cab? I cannot remember the last time I heard of someone complaining about too much head room! "Look at all this wasted headroom, I'm not buying that..."

Yes, coming from a '99 Ram 1500 was an awakening. No more river or cowboy hats in the cab for sure

6'3. I was majorly concerned with head room. Hasn't been even remotely an issue. Plenty of room.

I concur, 6 2" and moon roof is low, way lower than my 06. Truck without moonroof isn't much better. Jumped in a 4 runner, no issues.

I've been trying to love this new model tacoma but over and over my money stays in my pocket.

6’6” 2016 sport double cab long bed with no moon roof and fit comfortably. I’m no gangster, I sit upright like a normal person.

6'2" here, no issues except the dreaded left shin dash smash before I figured out the best driving position. Don't imagine A/T drivers have this problem!

I think you guys should try driving without the booster seat.

I figured out that you can extend the steering wheel out and clicking the seat back one notch keeps clutch leg from hitting dash

I feel your pain, I am 6'3" with a 30" inseam, torso for DAYS, couldn't fly jets because my torso was too long for the ejection seat! I could not sit in a truck with a moonroof which meant it took me a while to find a trd offroad without it.....

Call me crazy, but do you think dealers are doing mods?

I've been trying to make several TRD units with sunroof fit, today knocking the hell out of my head, I mean like a hammer. I try the ones without moonroof, nonissues. So, I'm all in on that, just went to another dealer and tied two other units with moon roofs and no issues? WTH is going on? I swear, the trucks by my house a midget couldn't miss their heads, seats adjustment doesn't work, Then I just try another two and non issue.

Do you think this is why some guys have issues others no? Different build?

Disregard, I was driving me nuts, went back to the dealership with the headbanging seats, and twisted the lumbar knob all the way back, and this drops you an inch or so. Not as much contact, a slight graze if you will. The non-sunroof models have more clearance, but less options. I sold my 2006 today, cash in hand, looking for Sandstone without moonroof, not finding anything in CO.

I’m coming from a Tundra, it’s a 14 & I was going to buy it out because I’m way over on Kms but if I get another truck then I don’t have to pay anything for kms over. Well with all the driving that I do I thought I would go for a Tacoma. I’ve always wanted one and with the money saved vs a Tundra seemed like a good move. Well I too don’t fit in the one with a sunroof. I’m only 6’1 but all torso, even without the sunroof it’s really close which sucks because I was really wanting one. It’s weird that there is so much more head room in a 4Runner. Now I’m contiplating on which truck to get. If I get a Tacoma I’m either going to have to replace the seat or modify the brackets. If I get a Tundra no issues!

6"3 here fit okay in my double cab trd sport without the moonroof.. Head room is fine i actually have more of an issue with leg room. When my seat is pulled back all the way my left knee leans up against the door and my right knee leans towards the shifter

Im 6'1...checked this out myself to be sure before I buy...especially since Im getting a sunroof...the sunroof "ceiling" actually is a tiny bit higher than the actual ceiling....even without soonroof, I had plenty of room.

Yes I can fit in without the moonroof but it doesn’t give me the extra options. But maybe this is the better route to go. I mean BSM, wireless charging and a couple of other options isn’t a big deal. I don’t have a sun roof in my tundra, thought I would miss it initially and don’t. My 16 GMC HD doesn’t have BSM and it really doesn’t bother me as it has split mirrors and I have one of them covering my blind spot. My 2 previous GM’s before my 16 we’re tight as well. Going to go back to my dealer and sit in both of them so I can contiplate some more!

6’3” here and I didn’t really want to spend the $3k on the premium package, but the moonroof FORCED me to not even consider it. Couldn’t sit where I was comfortable. My non premium equipped ‘17 dclb sport has plenty of headroom tho.

I am 6'1" and not-so-petite. No problems with my 01 and I drove a stock 17 DC OR rental around for the last 10 days and no height problems there either. A moonroof would be an absolute deal killer for me- space killer or not. It was nice years ago to pick and chose every option you wanted on a vehicle- no problem. Now, they lump a ton of useless shit together and jack the prices up several k$.
