CB Antenna Mounts, 3rd Gen Tonneau Covers, and You...

While the tonneau cover for the '16 is nice, it is also a complete pain in the ass when it comes to mounting a CB antenna.

Where are you guys putting your CB antennas? Is there anyone making antenna mounts for the 3rd gens yet?

I've scoured that thread but it doesn't touch on antenna mounting with the tonneau cover in place.

 

BAMF and others have mounts that stick out the rear on side of tailgate.
I wonder if those would interfere with your tonneau

They don't have them for the 3rd gen.

 

I have that mount but the problem is clearance. The tailgate rubs the bracket.

Thats my rig, I had that issue until i tried putting the bracket between the black plate. no rubbing and plenty of room to open and close the tailgate

 

I changed locations for the mount and it's much better.

 

I like that. Did you bend the bracket? How does it attach?

 

I put it in a vice and hammered the angles flat to make it a 90 degree bend instead of two 45's. This keeps it from being to close to the cab and elevates it enough to clear the cover. I drilled holes with a 5/16 bit and used self tapping screws to secure it.

Thats exactly what I've been looking for

 

It was the firestik mount from Amazon. It sucked profusely. I ended up going with a tail light mount from C4Fab.
