Pricy but that will work. Fire sticks have been around for a long time. Again you need to keep it away from metal the best you can, the big plus is the way the Fire stick is made. It too is way too short for the band but is not base loaded like the black thing on the old antenna that basically was your problem, the windings you can see wrapped around the fire stick make up for the short length. If you ever decide to get a license that mount will except standard real antennas! I have 3 antennas on my Tacoma covering 4 bands the mounts are inside the bed all of matching loads are above the bed rails that of course would not work well with a bed cover!

Don't forget that if you mount it to your bed, that Tacoma beds are substantially made of composite material, it may be worth running a ground cable from your antenna mount to your frame.

The body work is all metal, fenders, bed mounting etc. He has to install the antenna bracket to some thing substantial so it stay's there and plastic ain't it! So the body work and the cable bride is the return path.

I had to do this when I set up my cali raised tail-gate mount antenna, like op is looking at . Our composite beds mess up the ground plane big time…

News flash a vehicle is a terrible ground plane, plastic bed or not. Your ground plane is the earth beneath it not the truck.

I think your right about that . They do throw that term ground plane around rather loosely….but it did help me out massively , Mine barely worked and had a lot of interference beforeI grounded it to the frame …

What is a ground plane for a CB radio antenna?A ground plane for a CB radio antenna is the metal surface required below the antenna. In mobile applications, the vehicle body/frame acts as the ground plane (reflective unit). The metal surface enables the signal generated when transmitting to reflect off the surface and travel into the atmosphere.

There are two types of ground planes when talking radios. CB manufacturers often don't talk about both.:)

I used a through the roof mount antenna on the very top of my cab, centered....this allowed both a very good RF and Electric ground plane.

I've got a cali raised bracket very similar to the setup you are looking at, and a 3 ft firestik. I have never measured SWR, but I've got good enough range to communicate with my buddies when we go offroading, sometimes up to 5 miles or so.

I had dual fire sticks in the bed
I’ve since gone to a single antenna in the middle of the top of the cab

run a nmo mount, and run it under the headliner

Ditch light brackets work well for me. Have the CB antenna (3' firestik) on one and my ham radio antenna (Comet CA-2x4SR) on the other. SWR on the CB required no adjustment, don't have a way to check the ham radio yet but it seems happy. I have CBI ditch light brackets but I'd recommend looking at other brands as I had fitment issues with the CBI brackets.

That will work because the camper top is plastic and the tip of the antenna is above the roof. 5 miles CB is pretty much normal.

I used the Firestik Door Jamb mount to mount a tuneable 4 ft. Firestik antenna to the driver's side rear fender, by the tailgate.
