So, I have a problem with CB mic mounts and how they work. I don't want to drill into my Taco but I also don't want to leave the mic in the cup holder or else where. So I've been developing a 3D printed CB mic mount for my vent. I like this location because I can reach it easily and there are four different mounting locations (four vents)! What I've come up with is below. My goal was to make something that was easy to install and remove as well as being strong so my mic didn't pop out on super bumpy roads. I've been using mine for over for a while now and have gone on a couple of trips around Colorado and it's held up to all my expectations. I own my own 3D printer so I can produce these and was curious if anyone would want to buy one? They would be made out of ABS plastic for strength and heat resistance. I currently have mine made in red so it's easier to see how it works but black will be the color it's sold in unless there is a large demand for red (or any other color).

Let me know if you would be willing to buy one for $12 shipped. That is around the cheapest I can go and still make it worth it. Shipping is the big killer. USPS seems to be the cheapest at $6.70 for a 2-Day Flat Rate.

    Notes:
Clips on the bottom vent fin
2 Mic holding options. One looser for quick dismounts, one tight for firmer dismounts
    Simple to install-uninstall, no drilling

    Fits all 3rd Gen. Tacomas

    Also feedback is welcomed!

Actually, this is a super awesome idea. I have mine mounted to TPAM but this is a great idea for non-intrusive use.

$12 is totally worth it as well. Good value.

My only feedback/question is how secure it is when you are pulling the mic off, is it something I will fight with or have to fight the vent with.

Looks like a small enough space between the bezel and the flap where the insert goes that there is enough leverage to override the tension between the mount and the mic.

Sorry for going MIA. But yes it fits between the small spot below that last vent flap and then hooks to the back of that flap. Here are better photos: https://imgur.com/a/46h0llO. I have had mine on for almost a year now and it's been great. Used to have my mic just in the spot in front of the cup holder but this makes it so I have some freed up space.

There are two options when securing it. There is a "Loose" position which makes it easy to grab in a hurry (I use this when wheeling with friends and it hasn't popped out yet) and there is a "Tight" position, pretty much you push it further down, for longer duration. The tight position I only use when I am done using it for a while as you need two hands to remove the mic from the mount. Here is an image to show you what I mean: https://imgur.com/LQQv39I look on the left side where the mic clips into.

I can also make them on demand so if anyone is interesting I'd be glad to work something out.

Not a CB guy but nice work OP!

If they are worth your time, you should throw them in the buy and sell thread.

Thanks! We used CB and Ham with my group so it's worked out well so far. As far as worth my time, that is the big question. Right now I've made some one offs for friends but if enough people are interested I'll for sure do it so might as well throw it up on the for sale section and see what happens. Anyway thanks for the comment!

Glad to know there is interest. I am happy to print these now but I am also working on a drop mount so the Mic doesn't block the vent. This "new" style will be below the vent but uses the same style hook to the vent. This way it wont block the A/C which is what is does now! Should have a prototype sometime this week.

Definitely a great idea and I'm interested in the drop down style for sure. A quick little video would be great as well to see how they mount up in the vent and how the cb hangs.

I created a drop down style last night but it just isn't as firm fitting as the top style. I'd like to know what you think. Photo/video coming in soon!

Okay here is the drop down style but it's flawed. There is no way to make it 'clip' onto the vent like the other design. It WILL work but it will rattle and be annoying. It wont pop out, it's just not as good as the original design. I drove to work with it and it annoyed me where as the other one, I didn't even know it was there.

Maybe a piece of double sided tape between the bracket and the vent would keep it from rattling?
