    Get what your group is running!

    I have used many different types of comms out on the trail and CB was the most common. However, if you are going it on your own an InReach would be great for emergencies.

    Not many folks I wheel with have HAM setups. I do not, but will be getting one here when the spring hits.

    Think about what you want to do with your comms in your vehicle and then decide if you "REALLY" need things. Once you find out that you want something...then go for it.

    Was about to post this same thing then saw where you were from. Went to the HARC/NARA meeting last week and got a warm welcome. Then took my test Saturday and everyone was really excited about me being there and looking forward to me being on the air. Everyone gave me a business card with their call signs and cell numbers Incase I have any questions.

    HAM. Don’t waste your time with anything else. The range and quality is far superior plus there are tons of channels and repeaters if needed.
