What model Cobra is it and what antenna do you run? Was the CB swap from Midland to Cobra the only change made?

I've heard good things about the wilson antenna. I want one but it always seems to be falling on the back burner.

Good to know. I was thinking that I might fab up a mount for my antenna to place it in the forward driver side corner of my bed rail system...

It's a 40 channel one, a walmart special really. yeah that was it pretty much I just swapped units. The reason why I changed was that the midland was pretty big so I just went to a smaller unit.
edit- model is a 19 ultra III, has to go look it up in the truck.

Any places I should NOT mount the CB/antenna? Areas where things were damaged because of the placement for example...

if your lookin for a cheap, reliable radio and antenna run a cobra 19 with a steel whip, thats what i run and i use it for exactly what your talkin about and i mounted it in my ashtray like so
    IMG00259_0e3aeda776c6f86e0e22eeb1ad2bc8965785a088.jpg
i ran a cobra 29 before this and i liked it but it had a lot of features i didnt need, it was to bulky, and all those knobs were hard to deal with while driving

Awesome. I work with a guy that used to be a truck driver and he mentioned having a weather feature that interested me, but I don't need any crazy features...

Access Tonneau Cover Cobra 29 WXNWST Wilson Lil' Wil COMING SOON... Custom Designed Bedrack
I'm running the Cobra 29 WXNWST along with the Lil Wil by Wilson. Great combo, able to calibrate right on the Cobra and no need to cut the antenna. I've used it mostly for trail rides and road trips. I haven't tested my range out to the max yet. Do know I can get 5 miles no issue.
Where it is full sized radio it was hard to figure out my mount point. I wanted to do a clean install in the dash or the center console, but I could find a suitable place. Opted to mount vertically on the passenger side and ran my antenna cable under the center console and out the sliding window to the magnet mount. I'll take a picture and post later today.

Cobra DXIV Cb is the best CB I have ever owned. Take it to your local CB shop and get it peaked and tuned and thats all you need. This CB is small so it will fit in our minimal selction of spots to place in our trucks. Definitly go with a firestick antenna. Nothing else compairs. Dont use a magnet base just my opinion
