Ok so i have everything rigged up but I can't get swr below 1.5. The antenna is a wilson 2000 trucker mounted right in the center of my toolbox with a 4" spring, would the foam pads on my toolbox interfere with my antenna ground too much?

I don't think an SWR of 1.5 is anything to complain about.

How bad would the foam pads affect the ground? Getting a 1.5 swr from my wilson abd that's as low as it'll get

It shouldn't that much. I would be more concerned with the pod being above the roof plane.

a 1.5 SWR is acceptable. If you want it down further you might have to play with lengthening or shortening the whip. If it was a wire whip sometimes you have to clip a little off the end of the whip that goes into the mount end. I agree with Broke Okie I would be more concerned about the section of antenna behind the cab of the truck goofing with your radiation pattern. Just my .02 from an old ham operator

I would suggest a magnet mount K-40 antenna on the roof. You can quick disconnect when need be to prevent issues in parking garages or theft. Great antenna set up, easy to adjust for SWR. Awesome ground plane.
