I bought a Midland 75-822 this summer, and it works fine for me so far. I'm not a very experienced cb user, so I can't give you a very sophisticated review. But it seems to work fine and hides in the center console when I'm not using it. So far, I've paired it with a Wilson 1000 antenna on the roof. The display light times out and goes off when not pressing buttons. I wish I could make it stay one all the time at night.

Currently, its kind of just thrown in there temporarily. I plan to get an antenna mounted, and install my Hondo garage mount for a cleaner install in the next couple weeks. Probably lose some range with a much shorter Firestik near the tailgate. We will see how it goes.

I'd recommend you get a HAM radio, as most of us out here use those for trail runs and not many run a CB. Or you just get one of each! I just recently bought my hard mount HAM, but haven't ran my coax properly yet, it's just fed through the sliding window. I'll post up pictures though when I do. I've got my antenna mounted to total chaos bed stiffeners

I have the Cobra 75wx or whatever it's called. The one with all the controls on the hand unit. The transceiver is mounted under the glove box in the foot well. Can't see it besides the little wire end you plug into. Keeps it out of sight for when not in use

Here's my Uniden 520xl. Where it's placed it has not bothered a single passenger. The 3' Firestik is mounted on a C4 Fabrication mount.

And / or you can get this https://www.amazon.com/Stryker-SR-94HPC-10-Meter-Radio/dp/B01MT0TDJR - it's a 10m radio but will also operate on 11m (CB) at 10 watts after a simple mod which is snipping a wire jumper - not that I recommend it or anything  (instead of 4 watts like all other unmodified CB radios). And if you get your amateur general class license, you can legally get on the air on 10 meters and get way out on 10m repeaters.

EDIT: Here's a vid showing the mod. Super easy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVlWnZjLIak

@Flytmech Not to hijack the thread but are those either Headwaters or Marathon seat covers?
