Make sure when or if you run a ground, that you only ground the bracket holding the antenna. I know wilson had fiberglass antennas with a grounding wire coming out the bottom but it always made the swr higher when I used it. If you have the Tacoma with plastic bed you won't have much luck unless you mount on the rear bumper or hood mount if you want to go with a fiberglass antenna. Why not borrow another antenna and see how it does. At least you'll know if it's the antenna or not.

Check out thread " CB atenas & any ideas on how to mount them". That's how antenna is spelled on the thread. Go to the second page a scroll down about 3/4's of the way. There a pic posted by Relentless taco. He has an awesome hood mount with pictures. If my predator 10k would have looked good there, then that's how I would have mounted it. It's perfect for 3 ft fiberglass.

    Not enough.
Ok I'll try to ground only the bracket since right now I have the ground sandwiched between the mount and coax leading to the mount if you can picture that.
Is like to keep it in the bed but thanks.

A friend of mine has a firestick or wilson that has a ground lead attached to it and he had nothing but problems always throwing his ground light so he switched antennas with the same issue. I told his to change his radio and it worked out for him. Sometimes it is the radio that is bad depending on how old or beat up the radio is. I hooked my radio and antenna up in his rig and worked. That being said 9 times out of 10 it is a bad ground plane that is to blame when a radio is having high swrs. The only way to tune swr is by tuning the antenna itself and the next thing that is important is the ground connection. Even the smallest problem with the ground will trigger high swr and the antenna light.
