Sounds like its $400 for something that 30 minutes of research and youtubing could teach you to do for on your own for $50

Or is there something I'm missing?

Yeah $400 vs less than $10, and not any safer as long as you know what you are doing. If anything I would say wiring up a sPOD would have more implications than one single 14 guage wire but to each his own I suppose.

A CB draws little power and could run just fine on the lighter plug however if you want to keep noise out of it the best plan is directly connected to the battery. If you really want to do it right fuse both wires.

This ought to do it for now. I will get the new fuse box set up as soon as I can.

That is the wrong size of fuse for the newer Tacomas. The new ones use low profile mini fuses. I used this one for my CB- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K17A2E6/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

+1 to this! I learned this the hard way when I didn't check what type fuses I had in my 2013 and ordered the wrong fuse tap. For the record though my CB is run off the battery.

I don't use my CB hardly at all however that's why I bought one with weather radio. Kept track of some tornado producing storms that I stayed ahead of. Worth it in my book:) and for fun factor. I like gadgets.

Otherwise all I've found is truckers trash talking each other in traffic lol

I have a cobra 29, use it all the time when heading out on road trips. We usually have three to five vehicles, makes it very handy when keeping in contact with each other. When off road, same thing as many times no cell coverage. We also use FRS handheld radios as well, but with the cb, don't have to worry about batteries going out.

Doing my ham stuff now to get license. Better range. Wouldn't mind kicking up the power in the CB though.

Don't forget more power will give you a bigger mouth but no better ears. The CB band is full of voices all talking at the same time picking one out to talk too is a bigger problem than being heard. One of the few things the FCC does is step on high powered CB's because they cause interference to PS radios among other things. Most people with CB amps have no ideal what they are doing and make matters even worse by adding power mikes etc. and over modulating their signal making it unreadable and 20 KC's wide.

My brother-in-law put a PA speaker on his to yell at idiots standing in front of the winch line...

Just the guy I'm looking for! I've decided on this unit for my 04 DC. I know you're a 2nd gen, but where did you mount the CB? I'm thinking of trying to mount it in the dash by removing the factory dbl DIN radio, and replacing with a single DIN unit. This may require modifying the trim, but I don't know. I'm looking for options because of limited space in the cab. Would you mind posting pics?

Also which antenna did you choose and also where did you mount it?

And finally, are you happy with the unit?

    Sorry for the 20 questions...

If I do decide to get one it will go in the center console so it will be hidden and still have a "clean" look inside of the truck. There are threads on here where people have done that but it's early and I'm being too lazy to look them up

Where are you guys running the ant. coax through and into the cab ? I made a small slit in the rubber boot around the steering column, and fed it through without a PL 259 on it and added it when done. Is there a better way to do this ? Thanks.
We installed a Galaxy DX 959 in our work truck, mounted on the side of the console. It was kind of a large radio and this was the best place we could find and has worked out well.

I've got light switches and Ham lines through that steering boot.. my CB runs out the passenger side up behind the ECU. CB is under the pass seat for now, soon to be replaced by a 75wxst though.

    Antenna mounted to Lightbar up front;
