Any cb radio experts out there? Traded a guy an amp for a radio and it's doing something weird and just wondering if anybody might know what is wrong.

I have a PA system hooked to my cb. My last radio worked fine but for some reason my new radio will only let me talk thru my pa sometimes. An the cb transmissions come thru my pa, almost like it is hooked to the extra speaker port, but it's not. I have tested the extra speaker plug and I get transmissions thru that as well. It's almost like somewhere in the radio it's crossed wires or something. This didn't happen with my last radio

This happened to me ,the wire going to the pa speaker had rubbed through. It was going to ground then back feeding into cb even though it wasn't set on the pa function. Check wiring from the plug on your pa wire all the way to your pa speaker, hope this helps.

The cb you have might have talkback added by the Po it's a feature so you can here yourself talk, but you should be able to shut it off. Just a thought.

I got it all wired up. Turns out my whip was shorted and it works fine now. Hearing the cb is normal through the pa on this model. Some cbs were like that. All I have to do is turn it on and just not turn the volume knob up and you won't hear the transmissions and I can still talk through the pa. Now I found another problem where sometimes I can talk through the pa and sometimes it will key up, but no audio through the pa. It does the same thing when I tested it by talking cb to cb in our other vehicle. Sometimes audio will transmit and sometimes it won't. But usually if I key up a second time it will go through. Seems to me that my mic has a problem. It is a little rusty and you can tell it's old, so I ordered a new one and we will see
