I'm still overwhelmed about what a difference the tires and wheels make both to the ride and the appearance of the truck. I couldn't be happier.

Very cool... what size tires, are you going to re-gear and what are your plans to correct the speedo?

    Thanks.

Thanks... The MT/Rs are 33x12.50R15. I don't have plans to regear simply because the factory 4.11s just work and I don't have the funds right now to do anything expensive. 4.56s would be nice, but I just can't right now. Speedometer I'll work with for the mean time. I think now my speed has been increase to the point where the at 65 mph on the speedometer is actually 67ish mph. Should be fine for the meanwhile. Later down the road I'll think about a ScanGauge II.

Check out Dakota Digital... I have one and it's awesome. Came in handy when I went from OEM to 32's and then to 33's. Gearing was changed to 4.88's & 5.29's respectively.
The device tucks in behind driver side kick panel out of sight.

I'll be sure to check them out. First glimpse looks good. I have more experience with ScanGauge so I'll weigh differences and go from there. 5.29 seems a bit excessive though. I would think that 4.88 would be the farthest you'd want to go with 33s, if not 4.56s.

... understand though, I have the 2.7 motor w/ auto trans. I am maxed out to retain any pickup I can.
You have the 3.4... you can get away with 4.56's and be good. Huge differences in gearing from manual to auto trans combinations, regardless of motors.

Many threads on TTORA about the gearing differences regarding tire sizes, motor displacement and transmissions.

I want 35's but with the lowest gearing @ 5.29 for Toyota based axles with my powertrain combo, I'm maxed out w/ 33's.
The Inchworm 4.7 Lefty is killer while off road but does not help me in every day driving 'on road.'

    I'll deal with it.

Oh... Yea, I can see why you went with 5.29s then. I really only know that most Tacoma owners use 4.56 or 4.88.

As much as I would love to regear, I honestly don't see myself regearing with the short commute that I have and the amount that I drive. 33s and 4.11s work good enough for me. Whenever a SAS comes around :spy: then I'll rear gear, but for obvious reasons, but other then that, 35s aren't that likely in my future.

You make me jealous with the Lefty though. My dad has one in his sased FJC along with a crawler box. I do want a crawler box one day though. I think at that point though, I would be looking at getting a second car for commuting if I have to drive a ton each day.

Definitely especially since we're limited on space in the engine compartment. I do wish I had more space in my engine compartment though :(

I guess I'll start on it tomorrow. Have to remember what I did with the end pieces though...

I've been using my piece of pvc as a breaker bar a few times haha
