Dorkel install was a success. Also the truck is rackless for time being. ALSO, truck runs great now after recently tearing apart the engine. Anyways, here's a hand full of images of the dorkel.

For the people interested in getting on you can find the snorkel HERE!

If you're interested in learning about how to install one of them on your 1st gen Tacoma, go HERE!

I probably missed it, but what was wrong with your engine?

So I already posted this on IG, but I'm considering getting a GrillCraft Grill for the truck. I would probably just leave it as is for the time being. Maybe later down the road I'd add a black TRD logo, but I don't know.

Yes. Dupli-color Primer and Color Matched Paint worked great. Dupli-color Clear Coat could have been better.

Is that snorkel for a Tacoma? The fender fit is...questionable...

It's made for a 167 Series Hilux. Fits pretty well for the most part. The gap in the front if the only part that is off. Main reason for getting this and not one made for my truck was the price. Safari 4x4 Engineering would be a good $450 while this one was only $150. It's worth the compromise in my eyes.

Why even get the snorkel? Never understood them and don't see any real benefit.

I know for second gens when you cut the fenders it leaves the intake exposed, which is the only reason I got one on mine. They do help with dust since its pulling in air from higher which typically is less dusty but not sure if its THAT big of a difference.

Snorkels provide cool clean air to the engine. I've cut so much of my fender lining out that I was going through air filters every 2/3 months.

I guess in that sense it is cheap insurance. Snorkels definitely help prevent a hydro lock. But for me, it's definitely for dust.

Maybe the dust is different out west but I’ve never had a need to change my air filter more than once every year or two...and I can buy a lot of air filters for what even an ill fitting snorkel costs.

Maybe. I don't know very much about wheeling out east. California has quite the diversity for wheeling.

I totally understand not wanting to live in California. Guess I'll have to meet up with you next time you come down to do some trail running.
