Head gasket isn't too bad of a fix though. Just time consuming

    Stuff. Also things.
    Definitely don’t like that.

Hope you get it back on its feet soon, I’m looking forward to the LT install!

Bummer Cory! Luckily swap head gaskets is definitely within your wheel house. Finding a good machine shop to deck the heads can be a little tough.

Hit up Joes engine shop in Concord. That's where I've had all my work done.

Probably wouldn't be the hardest fix outside of waiting for the heads the be machined.

ADD has been deleted, the actuator for the front diff is locked right now so it's always one. No AWD though. Transfer case sends no power to the front wheels in 2WD.

Yeah, great way to start off the week...

Hopefully the LT install is shortly after that. Had to cancel my vacation time that I was going to use for my LT install. Definitely not planned, but hopefully the truck will be back up and running once I figure out the plan of attack.

Appreciate the resources. Been thinking a whole new motor is the way to go. Either JDM import or rebuilt.

If you pull the oil pan and check out the crank for run out it might help you decide if it's worth swapping it out.

Can't really do anything right now. I've got to help my dad in the meanwhile get his FJ40 rolling so I can put my truck in the garage to pull it apart.

Would if I could. The HOA in my neighborhood already hates that we have so many cars in the driveway and that we some work in the driveway that this would let them have a field day if I pulled the motor out in the driveway. As much as I want to pull the motor on my next day off, I can't. I need to do it in the garage.

The unfortunate part being the 25 week back order on an engine. I'm trying to be back up and running in May at the latest.

Put your name in, and rebuild in the mean time. Really can get it done in a week. Most machine shops will have it decked in a few days. My buddy tore his apart one weekend. Dropped his heads off Monday got it back Thursday and had it rebuilt the following weekend.

Maybe. I need to make a few calls, but working 10/12 hours right now really only leaves my lunch break open for trying to shop around for a donor motor. JDM imports is supposed to have a new shipment of 5VZ-FEs around the end of this week, with 50k miles on them. I have no issue hauling ass up to Sac on Friday if I can get my hands on one.

Beefing up the motor mounts ain't a half bad idea.

As for the rest of the gussets and the diff tube, we're going to play that by ear. My dad and I were talking about possibly starting the long travel install with the motor out since I could easily swap the front diff and install the coil bucket gussets then.

Yep, super convenient - put in a new motor, steering rack, brakes, coilovers, uppers and lowers on my wife's 4runner all at the same time. So much easier that way. Those perches are notorious for shearing off with heavy use.
