What! You haven't heard!? I dont have the complete detail but...

Tim head a group buy (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/gr...-road-products-front-bumper-group-buy-74.html) but somewhere somehow through the group buy he dropped out (i think to study some other career?). Some people are still waiting for their bumper and most of the bumpers shipped were wrong. But im not completely sure.. Im sure Brent has better details on it. Hes been around longer than me.

Currently in the process of being removed as a vendor for TW.

I would be somewhat interested to know more... Probably, and I think I'm right, but the info will be kept private between vendor and admin...

So... Any input to this would be great, but for a while I've been putting together a list of what I would need to build myself a swingout on my Relentless Fabrications Rear Bumper that I am planning on purchasing. I have an idea of what I'm going to do but I've been stumped on what to use for a latch and pivot. My father and I have gone back and forth and somewhat landed on a few things from Poly Performance... Here's the part list so far.

    - Synergy Universal Swing Out Latch Assembly
    - Synergy Tire Carrier Hinge
    - Synergy Spring Loaded T-Handle Pull Pin

So far the idea is to have the latch be a Synergy Universal Latch and then have the pivot be a Synergy Hinge with a Synergy T-Handle Pin be able to lock the swingout when it clears the tailgate. I don't know if this is what I'm going to go with, but it seems to be promising and it seems to be the ideal way to go since it looks like it won't be giving out anytime soon...

Again, any input onto this would be helpful. Thanks!

Relentless Armored! Too many others to list.
I've used one of those latches on a tire carrier (nate87) and it worked well but took some adjusting and is a bit bulky for my taste. For a spindle I'd recommend going dual shear as it will be stronger than a shank style pivot spindle. Pop pin to lock it open is definitely recommended and comes on all my carriers I build.

I just went and looked at nate87's rear bumper... Damn good job on that bumper, by the way. Synergy's latch is definitely bulky but it's far stronger than the Destaco latches. I've talked to Jason at Demello Off-road and all he said is that they would break on his bumpers and that's why he went over the the Synergy latches. My only concern is that I'm going to drag it across a ton of rock so I would prefer that the swingout be mounted on top of the bumper compared to the rear face of it. I've been looking a dual shear spindles here and there, that is still on the fence, but everything was by Synergy that I looked at and it's what I started to look at when I started this entire search for creating a swingout. Dual Shear wouldn't hurt, but I really don't know how I would mount it on the top of the bumper. The T-Handle pin, however, will be a must on this swingout.

Painted the stock skid plates, been working on scematics for a rear swingout, saving up money for a rear bumper and swingout material... Little things here and there...

I should also mention that I'm more inclined right now to build my own skid plates compared to buying BudBuilt Skid Plates.

I would join you, but I got a school event to go to and I got to start studying for finals anyway... I'll try to start wheeling in the beginning of next year though. :D

Sweet, i've thought about making my own skids also but it seems a bit out of my skill set. Sounds fun!

I got the majority of my rear bumper tacked together. Should be fully tacked thursday/friday then welded over the next week!

I liked the DIY part of custom off road armor. It just makes it that more special.

Update me whenever you get the whole thing welded up. I'm still very interested in the Relentless Wrap Around.

cbechtold, I'm looking at setting up my suspension very similar to how you did yours. What limits down travel in the rear? Is it the Dakars or the Icons?

The ICONs are the limiting factor. They're 10" shocks and the dakars can easily work with a 12" shock. I might to get a slightly longer set of shocks in th future, but I haven't had the truck on any 'real' trails yet. If I do find them to be bit problematic, then I change them out to something longer. Hope that helps. If you have anymore questions, do feel free to ask.
