Ha! My days of "doing it for the gram" are long gone. I just post stuff whenever I feel like it. Better that way anyways.

Shit I made a gram, posted 15 pictures in 5 posts and gave up. I don't like revealing a lot to the world plus once you get going it seems like people expect you to keep going. That's where I have to say I agree with you. Best way to work it. Plus superchargers are stupid right! I mean screw that extra power and that noise. Like...Pffff who needs it. Haha just messing with you. No body needs to buy anything. People just WANT to buy it all lol.

It's definitely not for everyone. I definitely enjoy more than I probably should, but I don't treat it like a job. It's just something fun to do when I feel like it.

As for them dumb superchargers :stirthepot: it's just not for me. I think they're a waste of money and don't provide a great enough increase in power to justify the price tag. I'm pretty sure that regearing will bring enough power back for me.

    V8 > supercharger BTW :)

Yeah hell yeah it will. Have you ever heard of throttle commander. Heard that helps too.

I have. I've got a buddy who has one in his 5th gen T4R. Definitely a neat product, but it's not on the list of stuff to buy right now.

Yeah I hear yah. Truck shit is expensive and has to be taken one or two items at a time. What does your friend think of throttle commander.

They’re rarely just bolt on too. All the tubing and then some more tuning after that.

A V8 would be amazing. Smog would be a giant pain in the ass.

He loves it. He mostly uses it in eco mode for better mileage since he's on 35s.

The tuning doesn't bother me, it's just the super minimal increase in power.

1uz wouldn't be too bad, but I still have eyes on an LS. Definitely the next build I'll put a V8 in it, not so sure about this one. I don't do anything that requires big horsepower.

How much would and LS swap run? You’d basically need an entire new driveline too right? How much time too?

Edit- I’m kinda curious what an LS swap vs SuperCharger is dollar per horsepower.

Super charger will be cheaper! And much faster. LS would require a lot of fab work.

    :notsure:

Supercharger definitely wins on both fronts.

As for an LS, the real question comes down to "do you care about your vehicle being street legal?" (This assumes you live in California.)

If the answer is NO, then you can buy a LS3 crate motor, 4L80E, Atlas transfer case and all the other bits a pieces for a minimum of $20K. Check Tilden Motorsports if you want to see prices for yourself.

If the answer is YES, then it comes down to how cheap can find a donor vehicle for with the drivetrain that you want.

Supercharger is an easy $4K, but I've seen some "used" ones going for closer to $1K.

As for time, if you have all the time in the world to work on it, you could probably knock out the swap in a matter of a month or so, but since most of us work full time then I'd assume you'd be looking closer to a year of work. Supercharger looks like it would take a day at the least to install.

Yeah I agree. Tho I’d say you can get a new super charger for 3k. And used I’m seeing 1800-2k.

And for the Ls swap if your good with fab, I’d say 2-3 months min

The fab work is the easy part. It's the wiring and plumbing that will take a long time.

Been doing a ton of maintenance to the truck lately.

    - new radiator
    - new air filter
    - new o2 sensor
    - flushed the power steering fluid
    - flushed the ATF
    - changed the motor oil and filter
    - cleaned the throttle body
    - cleaned the MAF sensor

Hopefully the check engine light now goes away with all the recent maintenance. Also the power steering doesn't sound happy so I'll address that tomorrow morning.

Still need to clean my skid plates, scrub the underneath of the truck, grease everything, and make sure all bolts are tight, but that's for a later date since I still have my skids off and it's about to rain for a few days.

On a side note, hopefully going to be ordering the last part I need for my next mod to the truck next week...well, second to last part, but more on that later. :spy:

No more check engine light! :bananadance:

Also power steering had a good amount of air in it, but it sounds much better now. Now to wait for the weather to get better and maintenance will continue.
