I don't even think I'll be doing donuts. Just very slow circles at 5k rpms and 2 mphs :anonymous:

Full manual like no add? I’ve been considering this too.

Correct. I'm still reading a little here and there, but I'm not really considering it right now. Would be nice, but I've already got a list of mod that I want to get to before a lot of other mods.

Not manual hubs though right? I’m thinking about just running a straight tube off a manual hub diff and just have the ring gear spinning all the time. Especially after I busted my stub shaft already. Couple second gens already do it.

No. I would do manual hubs.

I wouldn't. CV axles are weaker. Never got why people didn't like add. Manual hubs sick

Really? For some reason I thought a manual hub system was stronger. No idea where I saw that. Could have been totally made up in my head for all I know.

    Nope.

Lower spline count on the outers and narrower shafts.

Plus it's a pain to get out and lock the hubs. I love just pulling and lever or pushing a button. Granted I use it in the winter a lot and my manual hub pre taco truck froze the hubs all the time. Sucked. Just ended leaving them lock all the time.

Manual hubs so nothing in the front end spins in 2wd. Less wear and tear on components. Also I prefer manual controls over electronic controls.

I honestly doubt I'll ever put manual hubs on my truck. I'll just save them for one tons and 40s with some nice Yukon Hardcore Hubs.

Now that I've never heard of before.

I don't see the merit for "less wear and tear".

And really don't want weaker CVs. Screw that.

That is a pro for a long travel, stronger CV axles.

The Marlin crawler one to me doesn't seem like it'll work well though, too much CV bind Id think. Looks like a cool idea though. Would be shocked if it made its way to 1st gen stuff.

    Fair enough.

That's definitely something I've thought about with the new Marlin LT kit. I haven't heard anything about CV bind.

This. Ask @Reh5108 how he liked his after he swapped.

This is why I see no issue in getting rid of ADD all together and run the tube from a manual hub diff. My theory is my stub shaft broke because of the slight bit of play the tube allows. Sure the spiders are going to be turning all the time but it's not like the t case is engaged and this is how the newer FJ's come factory. So "Wear and Tear" isn't exactly a concern. Of course this means if I blow the front diff I need run two 2WD kits, but I have CV's I can use for that already.

I disagree with the 2wd part... 4WD low range & locked rear diff make some pretty awesome donuts.

That's awesome! I like how it appears the pivot point is somewhere in the middle of the truck.

I was thinking about gravel, not snow. My truck doesn't really have the power to do donuts on gravel in anything but 2lo locked.

Now that you mention it 4Lo locked on snow looks more fun.

I grew up in New England with front wheel drive cars. I remember doing front wheel drive in reverse donuts...that's fun too.

Yep - it's like the truck had a pole in the center and was just getting spun like a top.

Not going to be getting the crawl box in this weekend. Things came up. Hopefully it'll be going in next weekend, if not sooner.

Before you get it installed, I'd recommend swapping out the old style "fill slot" double row bearing with the new design. Will help avoid the fate that alot of MC\Inchworm boxes had with the ball bearing coming out of the fill slot and causing havoc.

Man if I hadn't just put ultra black on everything this past weekend, I'd definitely be looking at that bearing. I also don't really have money for much more than drivelines at the moment, I'll definitely bookmark this for later though.
