    Bumping this up for a question.

    I've been reading some other forums that mention (in general) rear steel bumpers with tire swing outs can cause some frame bending or other issues. Are there any concerns with your bumper (with the tire swing/fuel mount all loaded up) adding too much weight to the rear bumper mounts and/or the Tacoma's frame?

    Thanks

    We have seen issues with the 1st gen Tacoma frames bending with a rear bumper and loaded tire carrier. We have yet to see this on the 2nd gen Tacoma. Depending on how you load up the swing arm you may want to consider some sort of frame reinforcement if you are worried about it.

    Thanks for the reply....I would have a 265/75R16 tire (on a stock TRD Off-Road wheel) on the tire carrier and then would like to have two 5 gal. gas/water cans on the other side? Can you see any issues with this?

    I don't think you will have any issues with that setup. I ran that setup on my 2014 Tacoma for quite a while without any issue.

    Would the occasional mounting of a Hi-Lift jack be ok too?

    Sorry for all the questions....I'm trying to figure out how I want to setup my truck and want to make sure it will all work before I spend the big money. I'd like the rear bumper with tire swing, rock sliders and overland rack on the first go. Then the Moab front bumper and winch after that.

    Sounds great! You will be okay with using your hi-lift on the rear as well. Let us know if we can help with anything else.

    I will be calling/ordering next spring and probably driving down from Alberta to pickup/have installed since shipping is going to be a small fortune.

    @CBI Offroad Fab

    I'm looking at getting a Trail Rider 2.0 with swing-out, but I'm afraid the spare might interfere with equipment on the tongue of my travel trailer that I tow around once or twice a month through the summer. If it's easy enough to remove (unloaded of course) and I can find an alternate location to stow the spare short term while towing, I'll probably go that route. How easy is it to remove the unloaded swing-out?

    The swing arm is not designed to be removed. I would recommend a hitch extension or a dual swing that can be opened while the trailer is attached. Hope this helps.
