So the supercharger is not a problem!

After sitting on the bench in my garage for months, I finally got around to getting this thing installed. 2 day project, but I work slowly so most could probably get it done quicker. Install instructions for both the bumper and the SDHQ control box relocation kit were solid. Only extra item was moving the intercooler pump over to make room, which was way easier than I thought it would be. Thankfully I didn’t need to disconnect/alter hoses.

Basically just drilled a new hole for the pump hardware to the right (facing the truck) using the same bracket. Also set this hole so the indexing tab on the pump bracket rotated the pump counterclockwise a little. Hoses are happy and not stressed, and the pump is well clear.

    Winch: Zeon 10S
    Light bar: Rigid SR

Are you willing to post a profile photo of your bumper? I’ve been eying this one because I don’t like how much the stock plastic (black) bumper cap sticks out and this one looks like it sits really flush with the (grey) bumper. Do you agree? Thanks for any help.

All of the variations stick out about the same distance really. Difference comes down to how much bumper is cut up

No problem… it is a little bit lower profile than the stock bumper cap. The recovery points probably stick out farther than stock though.

    Hey all,
I'm int he midst of installing my covert right now and feeling pretty stupid, I'm having a really tough time mounting the fairlead tothe bumper. I've got small hands and it seems impossible to get a nut behind it to screw it in, and it seems liek you have to do it with the whole thing on and not just on the plate. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!

Howdy. Reviving an old thread. But those of you with the CBI covert bumper. How’s it working for you? Have you used it much for recoveries?
I have been eyeing this bumper for awhile, but not much information on its durability beyond what the manufacturer claims.

What’s up, so I’ve had mine now for a few years. Recovery, a couple of times. But never snatches from it, just pulls. Zero complains from that department. The bad, the CBI power coating is very crap I have realized, I have sliders, rear and this and all look the same faded and parts flaking and rust. And I live in Louisiana, what’s rust?!? But a lot of fading and flaking. The way the bumper trim is has worn the top of the CBI and it’s bare exposed metal. I might remove and sand blast to keep it good for another 5 years, but I was luckly enough to get them when the price was way more realistic. Overall I’m very pleased with my CBI products. Considering my ALoffroad rack is even more faded and shit.

Thanks for that feedback. I think I heard once that it was better to get them powered coated locally(might have been C4 Fab). That’s a little disappointing on the rust and fading though. The look is one of the best in my opinion and I really like how low profile it is. Wonder if there is something to do upon receipt of the bumper that could be done to avoid the fading and rust….
    Cheers!

Doesn’t mean I don’t love it, but I feel like the amount of time I have had them, they should be this faded and some rust from where it’s gotten under the coating where it was thin. I actually might take them off come this summer and have them done locally to keep them good for the next 5-10 years.

For sure! I’m considering ordering it this week(been looking for 3 years-lol). So I truly appreciate the feedback.

B4 winter I wipe mine down then wipe it with fluid film black
The film doesn't dry to touch but looks amazing
But yeah whatever they are using to powder coat isn't worth it

If you do order check everything upon delivery. I was supposed to have them but we're never sent

Did you ever find a solution? Getting ready to add a failed this weekend and already have the bumper on the truck.

Finally got this dialed in as best I can, so thought I’d share photos for anyone in the future that is considering the CBI Covert Bumper or Apex Badlands winch. Originally was going to reinstall my Cali Raised lightbar, but it was just about .5” too wide. Had to get a Diode Dynamic Bar.
Also, purchased a RCI winch relocate bracket to mount the Apex controls.
After a month, the top of the bumper is bare metal where the body trim rubs against it.
