Alrighty, so I'm about to make a mistake/purchase for my rig.

I'm thinking about buying the CBI Dakar Rally FGP hybrid front bumper (w/10k lb winch).

Anyone have any experience with CBI or their bumpers?

Side note: I also started looking at the Old Man Emu dakar leaf lift kit from bilstein lift kits website which will be installed prior to installation of any bumpers and winch.

    Alternative suggestions are also welcome.

I think it has all the protection I'll ever need and with the winch I'll never use will be very capable. At 115 lbs. not including winch weight I think it's a pretty attractive option.

I'm no expert, but that looks awesome. I have the CBI ditch light brackets and they are top quality. I'd like to see what that looks like once mounted.

Do you have a bumper/winch on your truck right now?

I would do this mod before doing the rear springs. Ive redone my 1st gen systems twice due to this mistake. Initially the the new bumper and winch will 'jack' your rear end up a little, then the front end will settle low exacerbating this effect. Then you will probably want to upgrade the front springs to OME (whatever 2nd gen spring is appropriate), then once that system settles do your rear end with adjustable shackles or air bags depending on what you haul.

In short, go slow. Add the bumper and winch, drive it a few K, mod the front springs appropriately then do the rear end last. Dont make multiple changes at once it will be too hard to determine what is going on.

Looks like a great deer wacker to me though!

I have had the CBI hidden front hitch and a receiver mounted Warn winch for several years, otherwise I would already have this bumper. Very happy with my CBI experience.

    Thanks everybody!

Once I have everything installed I'll put up an "initial impressions" post with several pictures.

With your OME system, you'll want 886 coils to be able to handle the weight up front. That's what I'm running on my setup and it handles the weight very well and I'm very happy with it. Also on the topic of the winch you say you'll never use. Even if you don't regularly use it, you MUST at least maintain it if you want it to work that one time you may need it. Maintenance is very simple and only requires pulling out all the line, cleaning it off, and spooling the line back on the winch under a slight load. I pull my friends truck up a slight incline in neutral to do this. This ensures that the winch works, keeps all the grease moved around and that the line is in good condition.

I've not heard about this, but it sounds like a good practice.

    Thanks!

I have the Moab 2.0 with a 10k winch. I have Bilstein 6112's with Icon 700lb springs to help with the weight. Not sure of the weight difference between the Moab and Dakar, but I need the 700 springs versus the 610 the Bilsteins originally came with. I'm extremely happy with CBI. Great build quality and even better customer service.

Any issues mounting a front skid with that that isn't from CBI? That bumper looks fantastic

I asked them about it and CBI told me pretty much all skids that bolt in the factory location should be good. I have the anemic factory one on there now. No issues.

Wicked happy with my CBI moab 2.0 w/o hoops. Works well with x20 10k winch. Not sure about aftermarket skids tho i have a stock skid.

That dakar bumper is a sexy sob. I'd reckon all the empty areas in it make it look a bit less bulky which is attractive to me. I want a bumper like this but than I also have to get some higher spring rate springs... :(
