Sorry that this took so long things have been nuts here. They are nine inches above the bed rail to the top of the bar

Thanks for posting this, was trying to figure out what if any additional kits I need to mount rack to this. What kit did you get? was it from Yakima?

Does anyone have shots of a paddleboard mounted to these cbi bars? Trying to figure out just how far the boards hang over the tailgate.

Any update on how they are holding up or how they do with a rooftop tent. Most seem to be going with the cage, but I want the tent out of the airstream.

You can always open to the side, driver or passenger side, or bring the whole assembly back in the rails. I did want to know, what RTT are you planning on installing, and once you do, keep us updated on the mounting and pics brother!

That's the tent I got. Felt it was a good value and heard good things about it. I have mounted it but haven't taken it out yet. Still need to drill new holes in the ladder but holding pending on tires/suspension as that will change the height it sits at.

    I got the Smittybilt Overlander - 2783
    http://www.smittybiltdepot.com/Outd...83.aspx?t_c=88&t_s=565&t_pt=9576&t_pn=S/B2783
    for the reasons mentioned above.

The mounting brackets don't seem bomber to me but I don't have any experience with RTT's so I'm not sure what to compare it to. I'll post pics soon.

Look forward to it! What made you go with Smitty as opposed to Yakima or Tepui? I am really debating between all three, or going full Vegabond drifter! https://vagabondoutdoors.com/product/the-drifter/ Thats just a hell of an investment, and hard to remove and store when I need just a truck.

the debate is hard, I don't think there is a right answer, just depends on how you plan to use it and what your variables are, $, space, weight...

    I found this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/custom-bedrack-tonneau-bakflip-mx4-build.562458/
and I really liked his set up. At the time I was trying to map out what I wanted to get since my wife and I camp a lot and enjoy the outdoors. I was considering a tonnuea cover but have since decided against it; extra weight to carry around vs security which also limited rack options.

If money was no object, I would have went with the GoFastCamper because it's basically off the hook. Similar to the drifter in many regards. But it was too pricey and the wait list put the nail in the coffin. I didn't want to wait.

I felt this was the quickest path to what I wanted to do. I keep the bars on and that's pretty much it as my truck is my DD and I want to keep the wait down.

Also, I follow this thread which has a lot of helpful info.

Anyone use the rack in conjunction with towing bikes in the bed with a tailgate pad?

Has anyone mounted stuff on the side? I know CBI offers hardware to mount a hi lift but looking for something that spans across both bars as my ax/shovel doesn't reach to both.

I am in the middle of designing some gear panels to span between my CBI bed bars. I’ll post pics when they’re done.

I have a set of bike rail mounts that mount bikes off the side of the bed bars leaving the top open. Looking to sell them if anyone is interested.

The bars are great. I fit in my garage with the tent on, and about 90% of parking structures (I'm lazy and don't take it off for months at a time).

Hard to tell from the pic, but the tent barely pokes slightly higher than the sharkfin antenna.
