Hi, I'm trying to figure out if the CBI T3 front bumper with low center grill protection will inhibit the TSS front sensor from functioning on 2018+ models with a pro grill. I've seen some photos and it looks like the grill protection is right in front of the sensor. Does anyone have that set up? Sorry if this thread already exists, couldn't find it elsewhere.

I literally just messaged cbi about this.

From CBI: Thanks for reaching out to us. From the feed back we have received it has not effected the Sensors in the grill at all with the TRD Pro or the regular. That bumper in aluminum weighs in at about 65 lbs. Hope this helps please let us know if you have any further questions.

Interested to see if anyone has it installed tho.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm happy to hear that because I ordered the bumper a couple months ago before I upgraded to the pro grill. After getting the pro grill I was worried that the sensor wouldn't work.

I just received the bumper from CBI yesterday so I will put it on this weekend. After a couple days of driving around, I'll hop back on the thread with an update.

I hope it really does work. Looking forward to seeing it! Thanks!

Hi K9cali, the CBI T3 front bumper with low center grill protection will unfortunately inhibit the TSS front sensor from functioning on 2018+ models with a pro grill. I get an error code every time I drive telling me to clean off the front sensor. It doesn't bother me that much because I don't really use cruise control that much but it would be nice if the sensor worked.

Then I tried removing this sensor entirely and the whole system freaked out. It prompted me to take my car into the dealer because the sensor system wasn't working, so I decided to just plug it back in and let it sit dormant.

Thanks for the update, I am going to see if it isn’t too late for me to change my bumper order to the model without the grill protection. I love the radar cruise control...

Just to give you an idea of what happens when I'm driving. Most of the time this little orange light is on all the time. It's not super annoying but it's always on. Then if I click the button to start cruise control, the system tells me radar cruise control is not available and the explanation point lights up on the right side. Check the photos to see what I mean.

Damn, I was just looking in to getting the bumper with low center guard. I guess I'll have to just go with no guard to avoid any issues.

I have a Bullet Proof Fab "Toyota" aluminum grill that holds the radar cruise control sensor. However, since install radar cruise says Unavailable. I thought given a few days it would reset itself and "learn" the new location which is only a few inches lower than the stock grill location for the sensor. Has not happened. Any thoughts? Thanks

I installed a TRD pro grill on my truck and the grill also places the sensor a few inches lower on the grill. The sensor has worked perfectly fine ever since and never had to “learn” the new position and or be re-calibrated. It might be because your grill is made of aluminum?

That's possible but I believe the small square panel in the grill that covers the sensor is plastic. I'll double check that. I've unplugged it and plugged it back a couple times, also disc the battery and reconnected to see if that might help. No change.

I’ve read somewhere that it sometimes takes quite few miles for the sensor to re-learn a new position but I’m not exactly sure on this. I’ve had no problems since the day I installed my new grill. My problem now is that I want the CBI bumper but the grill guard will be in the way of the sensor. I’m going to Toyota tomorrow to see if I can have the sensor disabled.
