Mounted mine in the center console.

Ran the mic up between the seat and console and mounted here.

And ran antenna cable in up under the center console. That little grommet is is where I ran the cable in.

Do you ever have any drinks in the cup holders and if so does your radio get in the way? I have in fact considered there with the same unit. Thanks.

I don't have that setup myself but plan on going that direction. From what I understand, it helps with determining whether you will hit low overhangs, given you know the effective height of the antenna plus any lift you have, so it is multipurpose.

No drink issues...including my 32oz hydroflask, it fits fine. However, I did have to cut a hole for the back of the CB...it is counter sunk with 90 deg elbow for antenna cable. It's a very tight fit up against the airbag module.

I am looking to purchase a 3' Firestick and a Peflrybilt CB Antenna mount, what all would I need to hook it up? Just a Firestick Firering and a spring for the antenna?

If in the future I got a shell for the bed, that mount would not work and I would end up bumper mounting it, would the 3' still work well or should I go ahead and do a 4' Firestick off the bat?

    Thanks in advance.

I have my radio mounted to my center console by the drivers seat so I ran the coax under the carpet under the drivers seat, into the gromet leading to under the truck, down the frame to the beginning of the fender area, up through the drain hole in the bed, and along the bed rail to where my antenna was mounted. Used zip ties in multiple spots along the way to secure it.

Just figured i would share as this is likely one of the only remote mounted Uniden Bearcat 880's out there. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy.

The main part of the CB is located under my drivers seat while the face plate is mounted in the compartment just in-front of the center cup holders. Using a CBI CB antenna bracket after attempting a bed rail mount that got horrible reception.

Am about to pull the trigger on a new setup but wanted to check what people think on it.

I am looking for a setup antenna wise that would work for trial comms and that is about it. Not looking to do much long range stuff with it. I am wanting something that will allow me to still park underneath my carport so a 4ft Firestick mounted in the bed would possibly work until I got a lift and bigger tires and then I would not be able to back into the carport.
Would a 3ft Firestick mounted behind the rear glass with a bed rail mount be fine for trail comms and maybe stuff on the road for road trips?
What about a 2 or 3 ft antenna mounted with a CBI bracket on the hood?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    ETXTacoma,

I have a 3t firestick fire fly. It works great for trails communications and gets about 5miles over most varied terrain. I have it mounted up front with the CBI bracket. Before the CBI I had it mounted at the tailgate and it didn't preform too well but still good enough for tail coms.

Thanks! Any chance you could measure the total length of that setup for me? Want to see if it would allow me to park under my carport still with having the CBI bracket on there? May go that route even though I would lose a ditch light in the future.

Also, did you do the firestick firering for the coax with that setup?

The entire setup is 40" off the flat spot on the fender right by the wind shield. I did use the fire ring with this setup and it works prefect. Just make sure that you buy the correct stud. I believe its the K4R.

Appreciate it very much on that! Now I just need to decide if I want to run the antenna on the Driver side and lose the ability to run a ditch light on that side or Passenger side so I can use a ditch light on the driver side... Since I doubt modifying a bracket to hold both would work well for the weight of both an antenna and a LED pod.

Firestik looks bigger than it actually is. Sorry bad camera angle.

Couple of options. You could use a quick disconnect for your antenna.
Use a good spring and just bend it down and tie it in place until you're ready to wheel.
Or they make a folding coupling then allows you to fold your antenna down 90° so it's out of the way. A Budy uses the fold down for his Cherokee.
