Thanks. I have no apple knowledge because I hate them as well. My old old shuffle doesn't have Bluetooth, and the Bluetooth jack I had never connected to it consistently so gave up.

iTunes converted, but then I reorganized into directories that make sense. Apple-organized means emphasis put on performer/owner, album name, etc. I listen to older music (classical, jazz) that does not come from just one person with 2-letter "song" names. Classical music is often in 3 or 4 movements, and performed by dozens or orchestras.

USB man, USB. No need to Bluetooth that mofo. My ipods are USB all the way. Its like having a CD changer that fits in the palm of your hand that can hold 10000 CDs.

I paid my kid a nickel per CD to digitize all our CDs, so they're on my phone. I use a Bluetooth adapter from GTA Car Kits to play them. My kit plugs into the same port on the back of the head unit as a CD changer would. It also includes an aux port. Unfortunately GTA car kits only supports older Tacomas.

Good luck finding a place to put a CD changer. I can't help there--my '07 is my first Tacoma.

    Enough for now
So I’ve noticed bands selling cassettes recently, anyone know how to mount a cassette player in my 2018 TRD sport?

People who think I’m serious are the same ones who think vinyl sounds better, which it doesn’t.

you can always just download your playlists from Spotify to your phone and listen with or without signal. I have travel playlists with 1000s of songs downloaded so i always have music i like when i travel. You can also download podcasts as well.

You could use a Discman style and plug into USB or aux as well.

    good news/bad news.

as long as you don't have the jbl audio system, it's extremely easy to change the radio to any aftermarket model with a cd player.

but the bad news is that i'm not seeing any new cd changers available anywhere. plenty used/new-in-box old stock models on ebay though. while an older new-in-box, or used model might work, it just becomes a question of 'how long'...

Way more work to add ancient tech to your truck that doesn't want ancient tech in it than it is to get spotify figure it out and build lists. But I really don't care dig your heels in and be hard headed I couldn't care less I was just trying help.

Appreciate the suggestion. Just stating my mindset. Wrenching on stuff is rewarding even when complicated, learning new tech is not for me. Not that its hard tech or anything, just resistant to adding another service. I still prefer reading paper books too. I might end up this route, but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions.

I did add about 15 discs on a USB drive for use in my truck, only b/c those are rare discs and I prefer not to use the originals.

so if I have my old MP3s backed up on an external hard drive, I could plug that into the USB and access them? The stock HU recognizes that and allows play? Never would have though that. The center console USB are charge only, is the other one data input? My 2020 doesn't have the AUX in shared with a USB, just the USB. What selection on the HU gets you to the files on the USB source to play. I get the andriod/apple carplay as they interface with the phone to get the songs across, but with a USB its just the HU.
Im too old for all this new tech!!! haha I feel like Im 80 and shaking my fist and the young wipper snappers on my lawn.

I don't have the stocker anymore and it is much older anyway but I believe you'll have an input somewhere on the unit or near the heater controls. Mine has an aux in near the shifter and might have had something on the head unit (though I don't think the HU did). I replaced it pretty quickly with a complete aftermarket setup, most of which I had from my old truck, so I didn't mess with it.
