I'm new here (obviously) so still trying to understand the features of my Taco. My assumption was that by the time my Taco was made in 2007, that all CD players had the functionality of reading MP3's on a CD. Am I wrong?

I burned a bunch of MP3's and put it into the player and nothing.

At this point I have to assume (sadly) that its just a regular CD player

I cannot answer that question, but is should say in your owners manual or posted on the stereo at least.

Either way it is easy to correct: www.crutchfield.com

Looked it up. There is no mention of MP3 in the owners manual. So I would suggest a new stereo system.

I was looking through the manual last night and there was no mention of it so yea, I think this all confirms that it doesnt read MP3's. I guess it was a bad assumption on my part that all CD players read MP3's by now. oh well. Thanks

For what its worth I'm amazed my 2013 actually plays MP3's considering how Toyota does the bare minimum when it comes to "extras" on our trucks.

MP3s might have a different compression format that the CD player won't read.

My 2009's factory head unit says "MP3" on unit itself.

My late partner used to burn his own MP3 Discs. Each one had about 5 or more CDs on it, so the compression is so much different that a regular player won't read them.
Kinda like why a DVD player won't play music CDs. They just wont scan...

I remember when MP3 format first went mainstream. The good old Winamp/Napster days!
